2019 Region 27

Post by formerfcfan »

Trimble is the favorite.

No telling if Lucas will be back in 27, or if they get shifted back to Region 25 or 26. Harvest Prep is now playing on the side of the MSL with Whitehall, Bishop Ready, Bexley, Buckeye Valley and Columbus Academy.

Waterford should still be good.

BU graduates some studs, but they might make it back into the playoff fold. FC will make it back into playoffs, but they’re going to be too slow to win in week 11.

...and so it begins!

Green should be a playoff contender again, I believe they have a good bit back.

I believe East and Notre Dame has some key players back and should be improved but currently look like outside playoff teams.

Who all does ND bring back? How are they numbers wise?

We scrimmaged ND last year and managed to pass all over them; go figure, a wing-T offense going Andrew Luck over the golden domers. We know ND is very well-coached and they usually have a couple beasts, but that they are also the incredibly small D7 that has no immunity toward the challenges that the typical small D7 program faces.

I don’t think Waterford will be that good.

Trimble will probably make another state title run. If HP makes the playoffs, they should be tough

Never mind... FC’s 6’5” 285 just transferred to Amanda. FC bout to go 6-4 and miss playoffs

Best of luck! Good kid, even better player. Go far, young man....you’re god blessed in your stature and gifts!

Way too early predictions, seedwise...

1. Trimble
2. Harvest Prep
.
.
3. Lucas**
4. Waterford
5. Berne Union
6. Newark Cath.
7. Fisher Cath.
8. Rosecrans

***
If Lucas in another region, then maybe NC sinks to D7. FC has a good QB and a good RB.

They'll be much better than the previous season. They only graduated two seniors from last year's team. I do believe they're hoping for more numbers to be out this season too. Just clinching the playoffs this past season was an enormous win for the program. They'll build on that success. I agree with the idea of putting them around the lower half of the preseason top eight though, because it looks like competition will stiffen up some more in Region 27.

What does Rosecrans have returning? I saw they have an open date on the OHSAA website.

True bucs40. I believe CG was 7 competitive balance numbers away from being D7 2 years ago however that did noit count our current sophomore class that is in the low 60's (counting boys and girls) but that size is not normal but depending on the new cut off at the count it will be close.
It will likely also be needed as CG would have had to have been 7-3 this past year to make the playoffs in D6. Unfortunate when your schedule has (1) D6 school, (2) D4, and (7) D5 on its schedule. As a CG grad I have taken pride in the many years CG plays to a larger school schedule but it now may have caught up to us.

It’s hard to tell on this. Just by looking at the top few schools enrollment in D7, I’m not sure who is most likely to move up to D6. Marion Local supposedly is expecting to drop back down to D7. The NC poster said he thinks ‘Catholic will drop down.

No telling what the cutoff number will be. I’d have to think that it would lower from 115, if anything?

(P.S. - can’t believe that Patrick Henry is D7 now! Wasn’t that long ago they were one of the best D5 programs in the state.)

The Lucas schedule is another meatgrinder. Wow.

Danville, D7, 4-6 last season
Centerburg, D6, 5-5 last season

Northmor, D6, 10-2 playoff team
Troy Christian, D6, 8-2 last season
Willard, D5, 5-5 last season
Steubenville Central Catholic, D6, 7-5 playoff team
Columbus St. Charles, D2, 4-6 last season

Fisher Catholic, D7, 6-5 playoff team
Leavittsburg LaBrae, D5, 10-2 playoff team
Lima Central Catholic, D6, 9-2 playoff team

Man of Man, what a schedule. I'd like to see some of my Southern Ohio brethren in Region 27 schedule like this. There is such a gap between the top Region 27 teams and the rest of the region. Didn't Lucas play one of the top ten toughest schedules last season? If they survive it, I could see yet another great battle between the Tomcats and Cubs if Lucas remains in the region.

Yes, Lucas had a top ten schedule last year. I caught a ton of flack for pointing it out. Lol.

As for this season....If Lucas can get to at least 5-5, I don't see any way they don't get in for a 6th straight year. I could see a third game between Trimble and Lucas. The other two were classics, why not? Odds seem good that region 27 may produce another state final team. Stay tuned.

New numbers came out last week unless competitive balance numbers really rise their numbers,(which is unlikely) Newark Catholic will probably be in region 27. They now only have 87 boys down from last years 113.
