That is bad for a school , if you can't field a freshman team it spells trouble for varsity teams later.

A lot of small schools don't have freshman teams and their varsity teams do very well.

O and B I'm sure your right, but how many freshman and soph see the field for there varsity. I'm saying there is nothing better than experience and that is where freshman and soph get theres

Burg actually has about 3-5 Sophomores that see the field during the game. And even more than that as the game progresses into "Garbage Time"

But you're correct, the experience the sophomores and freshmen get from being on that field and the Junior/Senior leadership is one BIG part why 83 boys are dressing.

Personally I love the Jackson / Burg series in all sports at all levels

Football scores this year
7th Jackson 20 Burg 6
8th Jackson 28 burg 8
9th Burg 16 Jackson 13

This rivalry is a lot of fun for us Ironmen fans even though we're on the short end usually . Good luck Pirates.
Hope both teams are 4-0 in week 5

I like this series and it is good to see the younger grades going at it as well.

Seems like Jackson has the upper hand at the younger grades, I remember an 8th grade or frosh team at Burg a couple years ago that hadn't lost a game and you guys winning pretty handily, but we seem to do something at the varsity level that separates ourselves and like you say we have pretty much had the upper hand in the series with the exception of once. Gotta attribute it the Burg program and the kids/staff/community buying in and going out and doing the work to be successful. We are in a heckuva run right now past-present-future.

Would love to see a week 5 match-up as well with two 4-0 team locking up for a bucket-full of Harbin points.
