I agree it is what it is. fairland wasn't scared coming in the had already faced 2 undefeated teams back to back with wheelersburg and west. you come from 0-10, and pull of the biggest win in your school's history. you deserve the props. I keep telling people the ovc is going to be very even this year. I congratulate the dragons as well. I been saying it to whoever will listen this is going to be a deep league overall. but the tell tale sign of improvement otherwise will be can we get teams in the playoffs n win games. time for both teams to get ready for next week.
Biggest win in school history? Come on bait. They beat a mediocre Ironton team. It may be the win they have looked forward to the most. Don't give yourself too much credit.

Come on Bait...."biggest win in school history". Give me a break. This isn't 1986 and Ironton is a shell of what they were. It's a decent win for an 0-2 football team.

Easily the biggest win. Not the biggest upset, but biggest win whether Ironton was a state contender or a conference contender. This would have been the biggest win for any county school. Nearly 60 years is a long time.

Having met a Fairland coach this past summer, I know he was confident about this summer.
Maybe this is going to be the start of the good season, he was feeling they would have,

Congrats on a nice win,

We were just talking in the trailer park, and have no idea why anyone would want to coach or play for the Ironton community. One week they love you, the next week they hate you. Almost like they have unrealistic expectations.

I figure with so many coaches on here, finding the next coach should be easy.

My cousin, Pretty Ricky, was at the game and he wonders if we are gonna have to hear this same stuff after they lose to Coal Grove, Chesapeake, Ashland, Gallia Academy and Portsmouth?

First great game by Fairland!

Ironton this has been coming over the last 4 years. If you have been going to the ball games you would know this is nothing new.

This is the prep level. The accountability for conditioning [ preperation] falls on the staff.
There you go make excuses because only thing you want is to get rid of the coaches. Players need to be held accountable for their being in shape. Coaches are there to help but can not do it for the players.
You obviously know nothing about these players or you would know what kind of conditioning and work out routines they have.
Right because players should not be responsible at all for them being in shape. Because the coaches control them 24 hours a day 7 days a week. Players have their part to play in being in shape. As well as the effort they give on and off the field. Being in football shape players need to work on that year round. The only way to win is to work together to achieve success. Coaches and players working together. To many people only want to replace the coaches only. They are just part of the team.

bigdogtaz wrote: Sat Sep 09, 2017 12:37 am Great win for Fairland, hard fought for both teams, it's sad that 3rd game of the season Ironton fans are calling for heads to fall, maybe Vass isn't the coach to lead them to dominance again, but because so many live in the past and have blinder's on as to why they had that dominance the program suffers. when Coach Lutz started his career it was a different time coaches could demand respect and get it , either you gave it to them or they took it there wasn't a 3rd option , society wont allow that today, and to top that without the draw of the Lutz legend athletes are choosing other programs or staying in the system they have been raised in, so kinda simple to figure no legend, fewer transfers, equals the smaller pool to draw from thus the harder to build a program to compete with your past, and on top of the failing economy in this area I mean what are you people expecting? For now and for who knows how long Tiger fans are going to have to accept that striving for the OVC is as good as it gets if you exceed that great. and any coach who comes in is looking at a 3 to 4 year's in the best circumstances at building a program, your kids have worked hard and deserve fan support for them and their program, My opinion if you aren't careful with all the negative BS you may start a snowball effect that keeps your tiger's down for many years to come
I agree but the coaching staff has to be held accountable for some things. I watched a reserve game Monday and the whole Ironton program looked like they did not want to be playing the game. Bring back some coaches that know what is like to get kids excited and want to play the game. There are not any hard nose coaches on this staff that I can see that can change things.

Good luck next week Ironton

Bait, you act like the "county schools have caught UP to Ironton" but in reality Ironton has fallen to the depths of being as bad as the county schools have been for years. The OVC may be the weakest it has ever been. You do realize the only OVC team to win Friday was Fairland and Chesapeak right? The Peake beat the mighty SV Vikings. West pounded CG, Oak HIll beat RH, RV beat SP, Portsmouth got beat, and Gallia was shut out 34-0 by Jackson. Other than Jackson, West, Oak Hill, Gallian, and RV arent exactly football powerhouses either. The OVC is bad, and Ironton is mid-pack bad right with them.

I know they beat a less talented ironton team. but they've never beaten ironton them pirate. fairland has never even had a deep playoff run. so beating ironton is huge. however you look at it. I realize the tigers are down, but I stand by my statement. even though I kinda figure the tigers at this point to go 4-6 or 5-5. and that's going to take some work after a 1-2 start. the win was huge for fairland. --------------------------------- can wheelersburg say it's been since 1961 that a Scioto county school has beaten the burg, when it was just a few years ago valley was winning the soc. so in my book, it's the biggest win in their history. no matter the current state of fighting tiger football.

buram ----------- however it has happened it's a true statement. I realize the tigers were on a different plane years ago as the ovc football wise but it hain't now. and I agree with your post. I just refuse at this point in my life to belittle anyone or call for a coaches head. that just ain't me anymore. when and if they do ever make a change. they need someone from completely outside our district that wants a new fresh start for fighting tiger football. a hard case that takes no guff, and runs and drills the guts out of youin practice. so you're not gassed by halftime.someone who is no nonsense and builds his own staff. I agree about the powerhouse programs of the past. football cycles run in every aspect of the game from pee wee to pros. but you can't keep doing the same things wrong and expect an improvement. I didn't see this as an embarrassment, I saw it as for what it is. and I'm an easy mark because there are not very many tiger posters anymore to pick on. but no matter what happens I always love my tigers. all that other tomfoolery is way above my paygrade. and I don't have a say in it anyway.

Let's at least clear this up. Yes, 60 years is a long time, but let's keep in mind Ironton didn't start playing all the OVC teams until 2 years ago. Playing one of them every few years in a playoff game shouldn't be considered in a 60 year span.
