Summer workouts

Post by Jokerswild »

There’s 9 more weeks until the first football Friday, 8 if you count the jamborees. So what does your area/local teams do for offseason work? Have they started or when do they start?

Wheelersburg offseason lifting began January 7th and continued through May 2nd. The rest of May was taken off, and then returned back for the summer lifting program June 4th that will continue until the season starts. They will also continue to lift throughout the season.

That sounds good on paper and politically correct.

But If your serious about the game. A player won’t take a week off all year.

Correct. This is the "scheduled" workout times. During the "off weeks," coaches are present in the weight room and at the field house so that players have continuous access to the facilities.

It's posts like these that make both laugh and shake my head. These are kids. They have lives outside of football and many play other sports, have clubs and other things they are involved in. God forbid a kid go with on vacation with his parents........
I know you must think jr should spend every waking moment to football so you can feel good about yourself, but then their is reality.

Too serious of feedback and took the wrong way. Good grief. You can still take a run or throw ball on vacations. There are Some that still do it for the love of the game and because they enjoy it. Not because someone is forcing them to or because they have to. But because they WANT to.

Portsmouth summer workouts seem to be going pretty good. Kids are really enjoying being around each other. The kids are getting stronger. A few kids that won’t take a day off and there everyday. I can’t wait to set and watch when they put pads on.
