Jamboree Results

Post by boss8 »

Cambridge beat Marietta 13-0 in a half of varsity football.

Offensively, Marietta really struggled to move the ball, never getting deep in Cambridge territory. Almost all of their yardage came on the ground, where they strung together a few decent plays. The passing game was really rough. They did make a few plays on a last-minute drive but couldn’t get going otherwise.

Marietta’s run defense was excellent for the most part. They swarmed to the ball and #15 and #60 made some very nice plays. They got torched several times through the air, which is also where they gave up both TD’s. Definitely a lot to improve coverage-wise. The defense as a whole did struggle adjusting when Cambridge went with more tempo.

Overall, some good things and many areas to get better. Cambridge is not a bad team at all and it was a big test for the Tigers. This is still a very young team and almost all of their best players are sophomores and juniors.

How many seniors on the roster? We are in the same boat.

That I can think of off the top of my head, maybe 6 or so that play any varsity. Some of that is splitting time or one-way players.

Gotcha. I believe we only have three or so. The Week 10 game should only get better the next few years.

Marietta needs to get the ball to #1 & #13 more. Cambridge lost a ton and will be lucky to win 3 games.

How many did they graduate off the team last year? I remember it being something like 13-15, and they all seemed like they were contributors.

Couple of points of related notes- the varsity did go 1 series each in the 2nd half and Marietta did score on a good drive. Marietta was so close in the 1st half on some plays from breaking it open. Cambridge' last TD game in the 1st half was in large part due to a 4th down ball that Marietta couldn't squeeze on an INT and kept the drive alive for Cambridge.

Kickoffs weren't live which makes sense - but they started drives where the ball was caught, so a few drives for both Marietta and Cambridge started inside their own 20's which also changed the game.

Marietta has some things to clean up for sure - but if they can do that, they can be really strong. Effort and culture seems to be totally different with this years team. The other things can be fixed. Excited to see them this year.

Football dead in Scioto County

Post by callie15 »

I Proclain dead in Scioto county. Try to find any report of games this preseason. I'm out of town and a Pirate fan, trying to find a report on the scrimmages , nothing. There is not a report on any other teams either. Skip football and go on to basketball. This is a dead issue.I know auguring between Ironton and Burg fans drove me away.

Jamboree results for Chillicothe vs Jonathan Alder

First half starters
Alder 14
Chillicothe 7

Alders running back is nasty.
Chillicothe had a couple good plays one being a 50 yard Td Strick from QB to sophomore wr Jeremiah Cain

Varsity - Burg 21- Raceland 0
Jv 7-7

Raceland has stud skilled positions. Their defense was pretty good, but raceland offensive line either wasn't good, or burgs d line is exceptional because Raceland had no time to throw and didn't do much running the ball.

Raceland caused burg some issues on their blitzing packages, something to coach up on this week.

Biggest plus for me is that burgs defense is very quick to the ball and did a great job in open field tackling.

Should be a good game.
