October 6, 2023 Vinton County 69 - 12 River Valley

Post by Dundas »

Homecoming night at VCHS. The Vikings are riding a 6 game winning streak. That matches the 1996 Vikings as the last six game winning streak in school history. VC looks to push it to 7 which hasn’t been done since 1991. RV is coming in looking for their first win of the year. The Raiders look to spoil homecoming night in McArthur this Friday night. The Vikings and Nelsonville York are on what seems to be a collision course for another TVC Ohio title in week 9. Do either teams look ahead? Could this be a trap game for NY as the take on Alex or for the Vikings vs the Raiders? We’ll find out Friday night.

Vinton County Vs River Valley will be live streamed on BMG Media this Friday.

VC leads the series 6-3 and has outscored RV 286-149 all time and 254-57 in the last 6 meetings.

VC can probably pull their starters in the 2nd quarter. One of those games you just look to get some reps and get out healthy.

The only thing stopping VC's first string from scoring is them being pulled early. VC names the score.

Fantastic50 has Gallia 7th and VC 8th at the moment in their predictions. Couple wins or an upset here and there could put them 8 and 9. Would be nice to see Gallia again. I think this is a game that will be on the schedule in a few years.

The game is on the schedule, therefore the very long season continues for the Raiders.

Could VC see their 4th shutout of the season?

39 points in 1991

I know what's wrong with it. It's a Ford. You know what they say Ford stands for, don't ya? It stands for 'Fix it again, Tony'.

Considered one of the, if not the best, team in VC history. The 1991 Vikings went 10-0 out scoring their opponents 266-39.

This years squad has already given up 48 points, so they won’t be able to break that record. However, they are on pace to outscore the 91 team. As of now, VC has compiled 243 points with 3 games to go. The 93 team has the record for most points in a season with 348 points in the regular season. It’ll be interesting to see if VC can top that.

Agreed. Would be nice to have a huge local playoff game where both team's fans can show out in droves.

Absolutely. VC hasn’t had much in the playoff experience category but when they did make it, we traveled pretty far.

1993 Vs Sheridan at Groveport
1993 Vs Ironton at Portsmouth’s Spartan Stadium
2004 @ Canal Fulton Northwest
2020 Covid season with no fans
2021 @ Meadowbrook
2022 @ Columbus East

If VC and Gallia Academy were to meet, I couldn’t imagine the size of the crowd.

That’s kind of a harsh claim, isn’t it? VC obviously has a conference title goal but even if they lose and finish 8-2, I would classify that as a “lost year”. VC hasn’t won 8 games since 2004. For that matter, the lost games they’ve won since 04 was 6. I agree though, it doesn’t matter how much we win by as long as it’s a win.

Would probably be well into the thousands. Even folks who don't typically go to every game would show up. Either field would be a packed house. Could easily fill both bleachers 3 or 4 times over.
