There's alot of good teachers out there past and present. But, there's always those bad apples that give a school a bad name.

Not trying to be mean, but does RV football train much ever in the offseason?

Samdstorm23-I believe every coach has had the weight room going, some had more success with it than others. There have been a lot of obstacles at RV over the years.

So is this whole thing BS or what? Brown was escprted oit, but that doesn't mean anything was proven, and I have seen nothing reported. Is he still in?

RV needs to be very careful here. Even if nothing can be “proven”, do you really want these allegations surrounding your school? You can’t turn a blind eye ever again on this stuff. On the other hand, if someone made up a story and absolutely nothing happened then he should be cleared in the public eye and remain the coach.

But ya know what, the apologies and retractions never, ever play as loudly as the accusations, do they?

Very good point. The communication would need to be clear and loud from the Superintendent to make it known that it was a made up story.

BUT….if anything (physically or verbally) that goes against the law or school policies then there is no wiggle room here. The culture must change at that school and even a slight offense must be taken seriously.

The district has to take the allegation seriously so I figure he is on paid administrative leave until the investigation finds out what is going on. Until then the assistants will have to take up the slack. If he is cleared he will be back teaching and coaching. This would of been turned over the proper authority to be investigated. This is sad for all involved.

I heard my BHCC kids throwing the name McAvena around today, as a recruiter and adding coaches.

Obviously nobody in the GCLSD cares what I think, but somebody in authority should appoint an interim/caretaker coach to run things until things shake out.

The caretaker, knowing that it’s a temp job, should probably be an experienced, retired coach in the area who wants to make sure a class of kids don’t slip through the cracks and the program lose all ground.

Ex. Larry Carter. A Justy Burleson. A Jack James. A Mel Coen. A Brent Saunders. I’m sure that there are others a who are also qualified.

And it would need to happen soon, before the cupboard bleeds out to every neighboring district.

Is there anything in that cupboard to bleed out elsewhere right now?

The whole operation has been in disarray for quite some time now that you would think this is a start-from-ground-zero operation.

RV might be a good school with mostly good people in charge, but you’re crazy if you think this won’t affect getting coaches to move in, not knowing what the ultimate fallout will be from the wrestling scandal and whatever this football issue might be. River Valley sports are going to have to be led by whoever these “good people” are in-district.
