MVL should raid the LCL right now. Heath, Lakewood, Licking Valley, and Zanesville. Watkins and Licking Heights will be Div. 1 in a couple of years.

Adj Enrollment based off (EMIS + CB#)

(D3) Tri Valley 322 (Big)
(D3) Sheridan 316 (Big)
(D3) JG 271 (Big)
(D4) Philo 246 (Big)
(D4) Maysville 239 (Small)
(D4) New Lex 212 (Small)
(D5) Mbrook 201 (Small)
(D5)Morgan 195 (Big)
(D5)Coshocton 190 (Small)
(D5)West M 190 (Small)
(D5)River View 184 (Big)
(D5)Crooksville 158 (Small)

One of these does not look like the other!!

Also if Crooksville is recruiting players to bump their CB# up they're doing a bad job of it!!

106 schools getting indexed into a Division VI where the spread was 43 real/imaginary boys (156 - 113) goes to show the quagmire that is trying to legislate “fairness.”

Crooksville’s CB number is weird.

32 isn’t divisible by 3. So they had at least two Tier 1’s. (2)

10 tier 2’s (= 30) and two tier 1’s (= 2) for 12 CB’d kids?

9 T2’s ( = 27) and 5 T1’s (=5) for 14?

8 T2’s ( = 24) and 8 T1’s (=8) for 16?

The Ceramics only had a roster of, like, 30-32. With freshmen, who don’t have to be counted if they don’t see the field.

Like this just speaks to why CB is dumb. If a school with 150+ boys (9-12) can’t get more than 20 kids in the village to play football, why on God’s earth would they be D5? That’s not competitive balance. It’s stupid.

Wild! Morgan hasn’t even started their big school 4 year run and aren’t even the biggest small… I know this is only boys, but still. River View is shrinking drastically!

I often times think about how SE Ohio seems to be shrinking in population, especially our league teams, with lack of major industry. I fully expected to see schools dropping in divisions. Sheridan, New Lex, Crooksville all moved up a division while Morgan and River View are the only two to drop.

The Crooksville number did stick out to me so I asked around. Apparently they have a high open enrollment because the way their district sits. The one that has always been at the forefront is Roseville. Roseville is the little town between South Zanesville and Crooksville but belongs to Philo District for some reason. Roseville is 3 miles from Crooksville and apparently almost all of the kids in that town open enroll to Crooksville, Why wouldn't they (3 miles or 15 miles to Philo). Another thing I wasn't aware of was that Morgan School District is 2 miles from Crooksville high school. So a large number of students open enroll because of the convenience of travel. I'm sure NL district is close to the school as well. So i'm guessing these open enrolled kids are the biggest factor for their CB#.
I'm still a little fuzzy on the CB details. Does it matter if a student has gone to a school since they were in the younger grades? or is Open Enrollment just a blanket thing.

You’re correct, they are D5 Region 17. I was separating by division and added regions.

I agree that down the road the LCL will have a new look. Watkins is a candidate to return to the OCC and I believe Licking Heights would want in the club as well. I never understood Watkins leaving as they were a force in several sports and competitive in others. Soon they will be too big for their LCL brethren.

I think the MVL will stay the same for several more years. If Crooksville defects then Cambridge would be fine.
