Mets trade for a catcher

Post by LICKING COUNTY FAN »

Mets pick up Johnny Estrada from Milwaukee for reliever Guillermo Mota.Estrada batted .278 with 10 homers and 54 RBIs for the Brewers this year.

Mota served a 50-game steroids suspension at the beginning of the season and finished 2-2 with a 5.76 ERA in 52 appearances. Often booed at home, the 34-year-old right-hander struck out 47 and walked 18 in 59 1-3 innings.

Estrada won't be much of an improvement over DeLuca. Estrada doesn't walk much and his defense is average/below average at best.

DeLuca won't be back in New York according to the article I just read.

Right, that's why I figured they signed Estrada. I'm just saying that Estrada won't be that much of an improvement over DeLuca offensively and defensively.
