I knew he probably wouldn't last long when he missed that ceremonial tee shot at the Masters this year,he loved that! He first met Jack Nicklaus at of all places the Athens Country Club.He will be missed!

One of a kind. Patted my head at Firestone in 1966 and my dad said I would not wash it for 2 weeks!!...Bear,Arnie,Dow Finsterwald, and HB Saunders played at ACC in the late 50s I believe. Arnie was my idol then and always.

I HAVE ALWAYS HAD THE UTMOST RESPECT FOR THIS MAN, AND THE ''GOLDEN BEAR''. AND SPENT MANY AN HOUR WATCHING THEM. AND FOLLOWING THEIR LIVES OUTSIDE THE GAME. A COMPLETE CLASS ACT. HE WILL CERTAINLY BE MISSED IN THE BAIT CAVE. BUT HE'S THE KINDA GUY YOU KNOW YER GONNA SEE AGAIN ONE DAY ON THE 1ST TEE.

I never got to watch him play in his prime but from the highlights of the day he was cool as a cucumber.
