Game 43

Columbus 5 Toledo 3
Toledo Mud Hens(Detroit) 28-14 @ Columbus Clippers(Cleveland) 21-21

The big news here wasn't that the light hitting Clippers pounded out 11 hits, or they continue to strike out at an alarming rate(13 times tonight) or that they beat first place Toledo again. The big news was Stephen Fife actually threw a decent game. He was charged with two runs, when a struggling Robert Zarate(3.77ERA) gave up a hit and allowed both inherited runners to score. Fife lowered his high ERA down to (6.46)

Yandy Diaz had 3 hits and 2 RBI to lead the offense for Columbus.
Brandon Barnes had 3 hits and drove in one.
Eric Haas drove in 1 with his 4th homer of the season.
Mike Papi had the other RBI for Columbus.

Jim Adduci(.310) had to hits and drove in 2 for Toledo.
Ronny Rodriguez and Chad Huffman each had a hit. Both former Clippers continue to torment their former team.

Game 54
River City Rascals(Independent) 6 Florence Freedom(Independent) 5 10 inning

I was at this one
Eight straight loses by the Freedom.
Like the night before and just like last night the Freedom had the lead, when the starter left(Jordan Kraus/Lakewood, Ohio)then the bullpen gave up 4 hits in 4 innings, allowed 2 runs 1 earned run and allowed 2 inherited runners to score. Third baseman Mike Morris/Cincinnati, Ohio originally was given two errors but later it was changed to just one as the defense continues to struggle, especially in the late innings.

The Rascals got single runs in the first two innings. The first came on a Braxton Martinez fielders choice. The 2nd came on a Connor Oliver single.

The Freedom would respond with five in the third, to take a 5-2 lead.
Jose Brizuela, who had two more hits tonight scored on a wild pitch and then a Keivan Berges locked things up at two. A three run bomb from, Jacob Wark (1) game the Freedom a 5-2 lead.Wark would strike out twice, the 2nd time with the tying run on base to end the game. The 6-4 230 pounder looks like he is trying to hit the ball 500 feet every time he swings the bat.
The Rascals would score the games final four runs to post the win.
In the seventh they would score two, on a Clint Freeman double.
Then they tied thing up in the eighth on a Dylan Woods ground out. The winning run scored on a Paul Kronenfeld double.
