David Bell said McLain got an MRI done yesterday and they did unfortunately see something on it. He went on to say it’s too early to know what it will mean for opening day, but injuries are literally already a problem.

Injuries to start season is head lines

The Reds traded for Blue Jays infielder Santiago Espinal yesterday. They gave up a minor league pitcher I had never heard of, so good move as Espinal has several years of big league experience, was an all star in 2022. He can play 2nd, 3rd & SS. Had a pretty down year last year, and was no longer a starter. He doesn’t bring much with bat, but I think he has decent defense. I’m glad to see the Reds still making moves and trying to put the best product they can on the field, however this move was made because it looks like McLain will likely be having shoulder surgery. Not sure if it’s season ending or not, but that’s a huge blow.

Reds top SS prospect Edwin Arroyo who we could’ve possibly seen be called up in September will be having season ending surgery unfortunately.
