Predictions:Looking over this list of bowls, I can't help but wonder what's happened to college football as I once knew it. When I was a kid (we're not even talking that long ago, folks), the Independence Bowl was a big-time game. This year, Ohio and Louisiana-Monroe are in it.
Ohio (plus-7.5) over Louisiana-Monroe (Independence Bowl) -- After I saw this bowl match-up, I threw up. While I was cleaning myself, I remembered that Ohio once was good before tanking late.

The Warhawks and Bobcats were all the rage when the season started. Louisiana-Monroe stunned Arkansas—thought to be a national title contender at the time—in the season opener and nearly took out Auburn before losing in overtime. Meanwhile, Ohio rallied past Penn State in the emotional opener for the Nittany Lions after their tumultuous offseason. Both teams enter this one 8-4—ULM riding a two-game winning streak, Ohio losing four of its last five. The offenses are led by ULM quarterback Kolton Browning (2,830 passing yards, 27 TDs) and Ohio running back Beau Blankenship, who has a single-season school-record 1,500 rushing yards.
SN’s pick: Louisiana-Monroe. The Warhawks season-opening gauntlet of Arkansas, Auburn and Baylor prepared them for the Sun Belt, and Browning’s efficiency will be the difference.
