Michigan Football
Re: Michigan Football
Michigan might have another QB controversy after this game,They were dead in the water until Forcier entered the game but it don't matter because Joe Montana and Barry Sanders in the same backfield in their primes couldn't win with this defense.....

Re: Michigan Football
Remeber how Tate was crowned the next great Meatchicken QB last year... Then he was relgated to back up duty, Now Robinson has more than likely already threatened to transfer if he has to ride the bench, so poor old Tate will be back to watching from the side lines again.

Re: Michigan Football
Who would you get to replace RR.
I know Harbaugh is going to be 1st on the list, but he has a good gig at Stanford, and has hopes of the NFL as well.
He knows that if HE wants to come to Michigan there will be a spot for him, but he'll do it on his terms, not anyone elses.
If they can't get Harbaugh, then do you want Les Miles and his wonderful clock skills.
If not RR, and I can understand why you want him out, then who?

Jim is the bovious choice. People who are in the know say it is his dream job and he is only waiting on the call. David Brandon loves him and would not hesitate to make that call. Insiders at Stanford have already started gearing up for next season w/out Harbaugh.
I know right what would Harbaugh do with a spread roster, run the spread is what I am told. He ran the spread at SDSU with a running QB.
Harbaugh is also a smart guy and not going to just wait around. His stock will be at its highest after this season, and that means $$$$$.
Brady Hoke is another name that has been mentioned as a serious candidate if need be.
BTW, word is RR MUST go 3-2 down the stretch with a win over Wisconsin or OSU to keep his job. I just don't see it happening.
There is not QB controversy. Denard has been hurt since ND is what I have been told. Shoulder problems that will require surgery probably after the season. Something that is not going to go away.

Re: Michigan Football
Tate is a talented guy though and Mallett was pretty good too. Wasted talent by RR due to being stubborn or set in his ways with his offensive scheme. Robinson is talented as well so someone will get wasted but very few coaches will run the system RR does and Robinson may not flurish in another system. Many programs would love to have Forcier running the team for them. Sure he makes mistakes but lack of experience does that to anyone. Give him 10-12 games starting and see what he has then. I have said all along that RR scares me as a Buckeye fan because he recruits talent and teaches them up pretty well also. He is building a team and should get another chance at UM, at least one more year. We all saw what he did in Morgantown and if he did that there then imagine what could be in Ann Arbour given a solid chance. WVU will slide back to what they were before him, a middle of the road team getting a top 25 rating from time to time due to a very very easy football schedule and 7 sure conference wins per year. RR will take a chance and is the kind of coach that can win a game when he is outmanned due to taking some chances and risks.
All that seems like a mouthfull but I think RR, if left alone, will win his share over the Bucks. Right now he is relying on young kids to lead the way and that doesn't breed success.

Re: Michigan Football
Rich Rod doesn't think much of his defense which is states below.
Michigan’s defense is so young, though, that Rodriguez isn’t sure anybody could step into a staff meeting and immediately remedy the unit’s many ailments.
“Vince Lombardi could come, too, and it’s not going to fix some of the problems we have on defense,†Rodriguez said Monday before adding “maybe†the late, great coach could help the unit.
The Wolverines are relying on a lot of underclassmen on defense, which is giving up 441 yards a game and ranks 105th in major college football. They’re not doing much better on special teams, ranking 100th in both punt and kickoff returns, and last in the Big Ten with just two field goals on eight attempts.

Re: Michigan Football
Meatchickens D sucks because of the scheme they are running and the coaches who are coaching the team. They aren't bad just because they are young. A lot of NCAA teams have or had young D's and many of them were very good or at least average. I hear people say to leave RR alone and he will biuld something at Meatchicken. THIS ISNT THE BIG EAST AND THIS ISN'T WVU!!!! This is the BIG TEN and Michigan is one of the most storied programs in the country! He is not cut out to coach at Michigan. He doesn't care about defense, He has no real since of history. HE HAS FAILED TO BEAT A TOP TIER TEAM IN THE BIG TEN. He is on the verge of turning one of the bigest rivalries in College Fottball into a joke. At this point he should be making hay and he isn't, the only thing he is making is enimy's.....For the sake of the Ohio State Meatchicken Rivalry, Please get this joker out of town and bring in a coach who will return Meatchicken to it's rightful place as one of the most feared teams in the Big Ten.. Bring in a coach who will hire good coordnaters and coaches.

Boilermaker,
I appologise for my past comments
The problem is RR. You are the head coach, so that means you are ultimatly responsible for all three phases of YOUR team. Listening to RR talk is very clear he isn't involved with the defense at all, and as an act of despiration he made position switches trying to roll the dice and fix it. Point is PSU sucks this season and we made a walk-on freshmen look like Montana.
Bigger problem---attrition. RR is responsible for getting UM players to love the program even if they don't get immediate playing time. I have so much respect for Tressel because of the way he recruits. He gets kids who WANT to be buckeyes and incourages them to go visit other places because he wants those kids to WANT to be at OSU for 4-5 years.
Here is a thought. Since RR has taken over UM has lost these players to attrition/early NFL: Donnavon Warren (NFL DB), Brandon Smith (LB), Taylor Hill (LB), JT Turner (S), Artis Chambers (LB), Anthony Lalota (DE), Vlad Emilien (S).
Our defense which looks like this: Roh (S), Martin (Jr), Van Bergan (RJr), Black (Fr), Demens (RSoph), Mouton (Sr), T. Gordon (RFr), C. Gordon (RFr), JT Floyd (RSoph), Courtney Avery (Fr), Ray Vinopal (Fr).......
Could look like this....Roh (S), Martin (Jr), Van Bergan (RJr), Black (Fr), B.Smith (RSoph), Demens (RSoph), Mouton (Sr), Donnavon Warren (Sr), JT Floyd (RSoph), JT Turner (RFR), Vlad Emilien (RSoph).

Re: Michigan Football
Peake you are right about your comments there. Just like my posting above what RRod said about his defense. PSU is terrible. The players who left for the NFL knew their coach was only about the offense. This is why it is a team game not just one part. RRod did a lot of running his mouth on the sidelines during the game and the players made some stupid penalties at times. Another big start going down hill again.

Its all good peake ,, I will still pull for the players of Michigan . Then when change comes ,and it will the Wolverines will get back to their old selves....simply the best the Big 10 has to offer!
Re: Michigan Football
HARBAUGH the obvious home run choice IMO if not Harbaugh I'd like to see Gruden<not likely but respect him so much as a head football coach) I need my Wolverines to get back to competing for Big Ten & National Championships. I'm dying a little more each Saturday now in the past 3 seasons thanks Rich Fraud

Re: Michigan Football
Unfortunately for Michigan fans, alumni and students, the administration stubbornly refused to see failure right off. This program is now waiste deep in muck, because they left the keys to to house to a novice head coach.
All anyone ever had to do is watch the guy coach during the games. Cursing out his players and acting like a lunatic on the sidelines toward the ref's. Ever see Saban, Tressell, Meyer, etc. looking like that? He has no self control and the guy had one gimmick offense and everyone is on to that now. Just think where this program would be if Robinson would get hurt long term?
Michigan has to cut their losses. Should have done it two years ago, when it was evident this guy didnt have the goods.
I feel bad for you Peake. You had a great post about the state of Michigan football. The problem is that many Michigan fans are clammoring over RR not having anything for the tradition of the program. Heck, that's not new. he showed that from day one at UM.

Re: Michigan Football
In my opinion what Michigan needs to do is go back to the 1968-1969 formula. You go out and find a good young coach with alot of energy that shows that he is about tradition and building and staying at a program. Like Schembechler did when he was hired. Michigan should have known that they didnt have a tradition guy in Rodriguez. Heck he was at his alma mater and was looking for two years to run away from that.
