Things will get tougher for the Buckeyes but Holtmann has had a great start to his tenure. Wins are nice but turning around the Ohio State basketball culture is still job one.

Ohio State (9-3) hosted Appalachian State (5-7) and defeated the Mountaineers 80-67. For the Buckeyes, four players scored in double digits: Jae'Sean Tate (19), Keita Bates-Diop (18), Kaleb Wesson (16), Kam Williams (11). Ronshad Shabazz led App State in scoring with 15 points on the night.

The Buckeyes had balanced scoring in both halves with 40 points per half. The first half is what did App State in as they scored 27, but then posted 40 in the second half.

Next up for OSU is a game where they host The Citadel on Tuesday evening.

It was another dominant win against a team that was overpowered against the Buckeyes (10-3), as they beat The Citadel (5-7), by a final score of 94-65, amassing their 5th consecutive win.

Ohio State had four players in double figures: Kam Williams and Keita Bates-Diop each dropped in 17, CJ Jackson scored 13 and Andrew Dakich had a season high of 10. Rice Kaiden was the leading scorer for the Bulldogs of Citadel, while scoring 14 points. The Buckeyes led this one at the half by 21 and won by 29.

Although they've won 5 in a row, the Buckeyes have a mighty tall task in their next game. On Saturday they travel to New Orleans to play in the CBSSports Classic, as they will face off against #5 North Carolina.

Playing in their next to last non-conference game of the regular season, the Buckeyes (10-4) fell to #5 North Carolina (11-2) in New Orleans in the CBSSports Classic, 86-72. The Tar Heels led this game at halftime by 14, and ultimately won by the same margin as both teams scored 45 in the second half.

Leading the Buckeyes with another big game was Keita Bates-Diop with a game high of 26 points, Also scoring big for Ohio State was CJ Jackson who poured in 19 points. UNC had two players with 19 in Theo Pinson and Joel Berry II.

Ohio State now has a week off before they finish off their non-conference slate as they host Miami (OH) next Saturday.

Buckeyes played with UNC for 3/4 of the game. Last 10 minutes of the 1st half was their demise. KBD showed that he is a top player in the country, not just the B1G. The Buckeyes just couldn't hit the big shot in the 2nd half to put the pressure on UNC.

What a game for the Buckeyes! Ohio State (13-4) dominated #1 Michigan State (15-2) for nearly the whole game. Ohio State took advantage early, building a 41-29 lead at halftime. Then in the second half, both teams played pretty even, and the Buckeyes held on for a big victory over the top ranked team, 80-64.

Leading the Buckeyes and all scorers with a big game was Keita Bates-Diop with 32 points, followed by CJ Jackson with 14 points and Jae'Sean Tate with 13 points. Joshua Langford and Miles Bridges scored 17 points each for Michigan State.

The next game for OSU will be on Thursday, when they host Maryland.

The Buckeyes really are having a pretty great season so far. They are sitting at 13-4, one of those wins comes against the #1 ranked team. 3 of their 4 losses are against ranked teams: North Carolina (12), Gonzaga (19) and Clemson (25). Their only other loss came against Butler by 1 point in OT.

I never expected the Buckeyes to win 10-12 games, and they've already won 13 halfway through the season.

The victory over Sparty was indeed a signature win for Holtmann and the Buckeyes. Although one game does not make for a conference championship or tournament bid, I am impressed that a basketball culture of desire, hustle, and team work is well on its way to restoration at Ohio State.

Is that a good thing? His players being better under a different coach? Looks like a totally different group out there. They look like they wanna be out there. Offensively, this team can score, but they beat MSU on the defensive end. MSU never got comfortable in their offense, because of the energy and effort on the defensive end.

Also, KBD is one of the best players in the country, not just the B1G. Unfortunately, he has a game I think translates very well to the NBA, and we'll probably see him go after this season.
