Ohio State got back on track in a big way this weekend, concluding a 3-game series sweep against Michigan State in Columbus on Sunday, winning 6-5. Morgan Ray got the starting nod for the Buckeyes on the mound, but wasn't very effective, she made it into the fourth inning, without getting an out, and allowing 4 runs. Enter Shelby McCombs on the mound, with the Buckeyes trailing 4-1, she allowed 2 runs to score, one charge to her and one charged to Ray. She then proceeded to shut down the Spartans, while the Buckeyes went to work. OSU had a field day with Bridgette Rainey seemingly right after McCombs entered the game. Lilli Piper drove in one run in the fifth to inch closer. Emily Clark then blasted a three run home run later in the 5th to tie the game at 6-6. Then, in the 7th, Emily Clark drove a ball deep into the outfield for a sac fly and the Buckeyes clinched the win.

OSU will get back into action this coming weekend as they host Maryland in a three game set, Friday-Sunday.

Morgan Ray took the win on the mound, going 5 innings and allowing 5 runs but only 2 earned. Shelby McCombs came in to get the save going one inning.

The Buckeyes finished off a clean sweep over Maryland over the weekend, and to make it better for OSU, it was their senior day in Columbus. The final score of the game was 5-2, and the Buckeyes never trailed. Neither team scored until OSU scored two unearned in the 4th, but Maryland came back and scored two more in the top of the 5th. After that, Ohio State came back in the bottom of the 5th and scored the games last 3 runs.

Shelby McCombs earned the win, going 5.1 innings, giving up 2 runs (both earned) on 4 hits, walking 5 and striking out 4. Morgan Ray was able to come in and pitch the final 1.2 innings, where she gave up nothing and struck out 2, earning the save.

I'll be in Ann Arbor this weekend to watch this series. I don't think the Wolverines can sweep o$u but they will win the series 2-1.

The Buckeyes fell just short in their first game at #14 Michigan, losing 3-2. Emily Clark got OSU on the board first with a solo home run in the top of the 2nd inning. It didn't take long for the Wolverines to get back into it as they hit an RBI single in the bottom of the 2nd. Then, the Buckeyes had another solo home run in the top of the 4th off the bat of Lilli Piper, but that was the last time Ohio State would take the lead in the game. The bases were loaded for Michigan in the fifth when a walk was issued to tie the game and then an RBI single to take the lead for good.

They will be back in action tomorrow at 1pm.

The Buckeyes concluded their regular season at #14 Michigan on Sunday by finally getting in the win column in Ann Arbor. They did so by run-ruling the Wolverines after just 5 innings, 10-1, what made that win at Michigan even more spectacular for the Buckeyes was the fact that it was the first time that Michigan has been run-ruled at home since 2000.

Some quick facts for the Buckeyes in this one, Lilli Piper tied Ohio State's single season home run record with 19. Shelby McCombs launched her 13th home run of the season (and also picked up her 16th win).

The Big Ten tournament is scheduled to begin on Thursday.

That Sundays game was ugly for the Wolverines. Blanco isn't a true pitcher and that is going to hurt them come NCAA tourney time. But Michigan picks up they're 20th Big Ten season championship now its on to the Big Ten tourney.

The Buckeyes have been upset by the Big Ten's 12th seed, Iowa, this evening in the first round of conference play in dominant fashion, 5-1, holding the Buckeyes to just 1 run. Ohio State jumped on the board in the bottom of the first on a solo home run by Lilli Piper. But, after that it was all Hawkeyes, as they scored the games next 5 and only runs.

Now it's sit and wait time for OSU. Will they get an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament, it's definitely possible, but after a first round exit, seems unlikely.

Ohio State received an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament, even though they lost in the first round of the Big Ten Tournament. They are headed to the Gainesville, Florida regional and will play South Florida in their first game on Friday.

Minnesota, Michigan, Wisconsin, o$u and I believe, Northwestern all got in. o$u will not make it out of the Florida regional. The Florida pitching and batters are way too strong for o$u. But its good to see the Big Ten well represented. Hopefully someone can make it to the Supers.

In their first game on Saturday, Ohio State faced off against host, and #2 Florida, losing 10-2. The Buckeyes led 2-0 in the 5th, but ultimately could not keep the Gators out of the scoring column.

Then, they faced off against South Florida in an elimination game, defeating the Bulls 3-2, to send them packing.

The Buckeyes will face-off against Florida again on Sunday at noon. If they win, they will play again at 2:30 in the championship. If they lose, Florida wins the regional.
