Re: WVU to switch conferences?
I'm repeating an earlier post I wrote on another thread - but MERCY -I HATE THIS conference jumping garbage!
I really liked the Big East - close geographically and great competition.
I'm a U of Cincinnati Bearcat fan, and I thought the WVU, Pitt, Louisville rivalry games were esp great because they were relatively close and potentially "attendable" for a great many fans of all.
Are any of you paying college tuition for yourself or your kids??
How about WVU - or any other school collecting fees from YOU - paying $5 MILLION as a penalty for leaving and subsequently much greater travel expenses for joining. Aren't you glad that's where your hard-earned or student loan debt education/tuition money is going? Educational isn't it?
Now BOISE STATE [IDAHO] is going to join the BIG EAST TO REPLACE WVU???
What is so wrong with the concept of geographically regional CONFERENCES of schools mostly within reasonable travel-time of each other? What is so great about creating a group of schools/teams most of a continent apart? I love college football and basketball even more, but this is ridiculous!
And I imagine all their educational tuition fees will likely go up to support those additional athletic travel costs to games too far away for most fans/supporters to afford to attend, won't they?

If Boise had better facilities I bet they would already have received an invite to the Big 12 or PAC 12.
Their market is small, but as a team they have a hot national following that would garner a media push for at least 2 seasons.
But, they have a stadium that is roughly the same size as Marshall's.

What will the Big East do when Boise State comes back down to earth and isn't as competative as they have been the past few years???? What happens when Boise has a few loosing seasons. Boise doesn't have the infrastructure or tradition of being this dominant over an extended period of time. Then you have this school with a poor record that is all the way out west playing mostly East Coast teams.
Having said that, the Big East is in a desperate situation to remain a viable conference and desperate times call for desperate measures.
