Ohio State @ Penn State
Penn State looked really good against Iowa and recorded their 5th straight win. They put up over 500 yards of offense that included almost 300 yards in the air which will be a great concern for the OSU defense, especially the secondary.
The offense needs to hit on all cylinders and the defense has to get pressure on McGloin or it will be another long day for the Bucks.
Penn State's defense was very stingy against a not so good Iowa rushing game, holding them to under a yard per carry. Can OSU's O line open any holes for Hyde? What is the prognosis for Braxton?
Lots to talk about!
Thoughts?

I think Ohio State pulls out the win. Since it is on the road, I don't think OSU will run away with the game, but I think they come out of Happy Valley with the W.

I look for this a be a tough game for the buckeyes. Playing at beaver stadium on a late 5:30 kickoff the place will be energized. As mentioned, gonna have to get pressure on the mcgloin and force some turnovers.
The offense has to pick it back up this week. Looked very sluggish and poor against Purdue. Hopefully that poor performance will have them charged up to come back and pound it out and put the points they're capable of scoring.
Meyer said Braxton had a very sore neck and suffered some whiplash from the fall Saturday. But he is scheduled to practice tomorrow and listed to go Saturday against PSU

O'Brian has done a great job with PSU.
They have no business winning more than 4 games this year.
OSU should be sending PSU to the showers by halftime.
But, I don't trust our defense, and Braxton is going to have to be healthy.
OSU: 31
PSU: 24

If Miller is out, I'll take Penn State in this one. Guiton had a good performance in his small stent, but I'm not sure he can be the guy who leads them out of Happy Valley with a victory. It's going to be close.
PSU-24
OSU-14
I'm actually rooting for Penn State; every win they rack up helps Ohio.

Never thought at the beginning of the year this would be such a scary game O'brien has a done a great job over there! OSU defense better tighten up big time if they want to compete in this one.

Re: Ohio State @ Penn State
Before everyone gets all crazy about Penn St and their 5-0 streak, lets not forget that they lost to Ohio and Virginia,
And have won games against Navy, Temple, Iowa, Illinois, and Noethwestern.
None of those wins are worth bragging about, no matter how far the program had dropped from scandal.
Is O'Brian doing a great job? Yes.
But PSU still stinks.
If Braxton weren't injured last game, the doubt would be gone.

Re: Ohio State @ Penn State
I think what opened people's eyes with Penn State was that beat down at Iowa last week, never an easy place to play at and Iowa did beat MSU the week before so they are not that bad in a weak BIG where anybody can win this year,if this was a home game I'd be much more comfortable, but over there most years the Bucks struggle.

Re: Ohio State @ Penn State
That atmosphere to start the game will be unreal I'm sure. If OSU can bounce off to a get start and get the offense rolling like they did against Indiana and Nebraska, take the crowd out of this game then I think the buckeyes cruise. The Defense is going to have to be ready to play and make some big plays and keep Braxton and CO on the field.
As stated PSU hasn't beat a good team yet. The teams they have beaten has been low end B1G team and navy and temple. Dispute what they did at Iowa, Iowa isn't a good team this year. They beat a struggling MSU team in overtime. Iowa has been using its 3rd string running back most the year (which has played well) but he played hurt against PSU. PSU has def surprised people to a certain degree, idk why completely for the teams they have played. They had really 2 key players leave in Silas Redd and Justin Brown and some so so players. I thought before the season they would win some games this year but would struggle after losing this senior class and the scholarship reduction takes effect
Buckeyes play their game they win hands down.
OSU 31 PSU 21

Re: Ohio State @ Penn State
I agree with seofan via dublin.........I don't trust the Buckeye defense enough to feel comfortable about a win........based on how quick Miller's recovery supposedly was, I think that will be a big plus for OSU.......we must pressure Matt McGloin, because if we don't, he can make some good throws.
I think the Buckeyes win, but it looks like another game decided by a touchdown or less.
Question for seofan via dublin: Joey Galloway said on the broadcast of the Purdue game that there were no linebackers out there to recruit to OSU, which could set them back 3-4 years at that position.........could this actually be possible? Didn't Coach Meyer already recruit a star linebacker from North Carolina?

Re: Ohio State @ Penn State
The 2014 recruiting class for OSU will be loaded at LB.
The 2013 class has several more great D-Linemen. Likely we'll see some D-Linemen convert to OLB.
Galloway is wrong in saying that there are no LB available to recruit.
It's also a matter of their ability to learn and their drive in practice.
Hawk, Carpenter, and Shliegal were a bunch of 3 star guys.
But they all busted their butts, were sponges in practice, and played above their talent level.
They need guys like this.

Re: Ohio State @ Penn State
Laurinaitis and Malcolm Jenkins were also 3 star guys coming out of HS. Both ended up being multiple year All Americans for the buckeyes. Much like dub said, players mature and catch in different. It's all about developing talent and gettin the full potential out what's there.
Also have some good freshmen LB this year in David Perkins and Jamal Marcus, just not catching on to the system fast enough but alot of talent and key players on kick coverage. Also freshman Joshua perry and Cameron williams who have been getting some playing time this season. Obviously they aren't living up to expectation yet but alot can be done from December til next septemeber.
This team has alot of young talent and I think alot of these kids will emerge into big time players before they're done at OSU

Agree 100% here I really think we are going to destroy PSU. I look for them to come out fired up because this game is their national championship or bowl game whatever you wanna call it. But I still think the Bucks open up a can. that being said OSU 35 PSU 14seofan_via_dublin wrote:Before everyone gets all crazy about Penn St and their 5-0 streak, lets not forget that they lost to Ohio and Virginia,
