Oh boy...Massive Corruption Leak in MBB
This will be a fun story to follow.
There have been four high level coaches who have just been busted in a corruption case by the US Attorney's office. The FBI has arrested the following coaches:
Chuck Person, Auburn
Lamont Evans, Oklahoma State
Emanuel Richardson, Arizona
Tony Bland, USC
The FBI has been investigating criminal influence of money on coaches and players since 2015.
The AP's Tom Winter (@Tom_Winter on twitter) is the one breaking the story. This is going to get ugly. They have 120 pages of a report and expect many more arrests to follow.

I haven't seen that they were fired yet, I saw they were put on "leave"
Re: Oh boy...Massive Corruption Leak in MBB
Apparently Pitino's contact requires a ten day pre notice for termination with cause. The "leave" is in force for ten days then Pitino will be fired. This will save U of L big dollars by not violating the terms of the contract.Chieftain2009 wrote: ↑Wed Sep 27, 2017 6:23 pm I haven't seen that they were fired yet, I saw they were put on "leave"

Re: Oh boy...Massive Corruption Leak in MBB
Sad state of affairs, but any big time college program, be it basketball or football, are dirty to one extent or another. Like the old NASCAR saying, if you ain't cheating, your not trying.

I love that the FBI refused to let the NCAA know about this probe while it was going on, because of just how insanely corrupt the NCAA is itself.

Will they find the initial problem . All are to blame . Temptation and greed . Will this be the trickle affect right down to the parents and kids . Old saying is if you want to dance you gotta pay the fiddler.

It will be interesting to see how far this goes and who it exposes.
Pitino is a Hall of Fame coach. One has to ask if this isn't revoked because he was always just 1 step removed from trouble at nearly every school he coached. I wonder if ol Dickie V will have anything to say about this and mention is old friend Pitino?

I agree, the corrupt coaches of AAU and all the one and done has rotted the game.
I too, love watching college basketball and I hope it gets fixed.
Interesting to note that only 1 coach, and that being a college football coach, Urban Meyer, has even talked about this issue. To date, its been total crickets from college basketball coaches. I hope WVU isn't involved with this mess.
At least in college football, the college coach has to go thru the head HS football coach, the AD, HS principle AND the visit in the family living room with the most important person, mom. No AAU trash to talk to and to mess with.
I am not saying that college football is sinless, but compared to the current state of college basketball its looking a lot cleaner.

Agree and also the conference tournaments have made the regular season irrelevant. Just too much non important basketball on TV these days, they need to shorten the seasons in about all sports. Baseball should end in August, Football in January and Basketball shouldn't start until January imo.Too many overlap and compete with each other lowering their ratings.dazed&confused wrote: ↑Fri Sep 29, 2017 7:31 am AAU and one-and-done has rotted the college game. For all the money giving away by shoe companies. They sure mark up the price of shoes to pay for that. Any player taking money should if they go to the NBA must repay the amount of money for their scholarship and double that in paying for other scholarships. Payoffs now is taking off just like drugs are across out country and around the world.
