The Buckeye wrestlers open up their season this Saturday at the Princeton Open in New Jersey, where they will look to make a statement in the season opening tournament. Coming off last year's national runner-up finish, the Buckeyes enter the season as the preseason #2 team in the country. On a side note, the Big Ten comes into the preseason poll with 9 teams in the top 25 (#1 Penn State; #2 Ohio State; #4 Michigan; #6 Minnesota; #7 Iowa; #12 Rutgers; #14 Illinois; #15 Nebraska; #18 Wisconsin) and two more receiving votes for national poll recognition (Purdue & Indiana).

Although there were no team scores compiled at the Princeton Open on Saturday, the Buckeyes dominated the competition, without even taking their entire "A" team, taking their second team wrestlers for some weight classes. 7 Buckeyes were crowned champions in their weight classes though. Those Champions included: Luke Pletcher (133lbs), Ke-Shawn Hayes (149lbs), Micah Jordan (157lbs), Te'Shan Campbell (165lbs), Bo Jordan (174lbs), Myles Martin (184lbs) and Chase Singletary (Heavyweight; Competed unattached). Other finishers for OSU included Fritz Schierl who finished runner-up at 165lbs; Ethan Smith (Unattached) finished third at 184lbs and Braken Mead finished fourth in 125lbs.

Tomorrow a group of unattached athletes will travel to compete in the Michigan State Open.

Hosting their own "Thanksgiving Throwdown," the Buckeyes picked up two dominant wins on Tuesday night against lesser opponents. In the first match, OSU dominated Cleveland State, winning 43-3, and only dropping the 125lb match by decision. In the second match of the night, the Buckeyes took on a Kent State that is receiving votes in the top 25 poll, winning 38-9, just dropping two matches this time in 125lb and 141lb.

Champs! After over a week off from competition, the Buckeyes traveled to Las Vegas to take part in the nation's elite invitational at the Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational, and brought home the championship trophy. Despite sitting in second place after day one, and missing three All-Americans in this competition, the Buckeyes still brought home the title.

OSU had 3 individual champions: Luke Pletcher (133lbs), Myles Martin (184lbs) and Kollin Moore (197lbs). Here were the top ten teams: Ohio State (155.5), Michigan (140), Arizona State (113.5), Northern Iowa (104), Nebraska (100.5), Virginia Tech (89.5), Central Michigan (82), Cornell (62), Wyoming (61) and Stanford (58.5).

After that big tournament win with three wrestlers from their starting lineup, the Buckeyes will host Indiana in a dual next Sunday.

For the Buckeyes, another dual meet ended in a victory, this one in Big Ten action. OSU traveled to Maryland to take on the Terrapins and left with a dominant 45-3 win. The Buckeyes earned match wins at every weight class except for 285, because Kyle Snyder did not wrestle in the meet.

Ohio State is back in action tomorrow as they travel to Rutgers to take on the 17th ranked Scarlet Knights at Noon.

Sunday was the final home match of the year in Columbus for the Buckeyes, which meant they celebrated senior night. Senior night for the Buckeyes this year saw a celebration of a dominant senior class at OSU, and over 15,000 people took in the match at the Schott.

For the match, the Buckeyes defeated #4 Iowa 22-12. The individual matches were split pretty evenly, but Ohio State got the win by scoring more points in each of those. OSU claimed victory at the following weight classes: 133, 141, 174, 184, 197 and 285.

Ohio State is back in action on Friday when they travel to Michigan State.

Playing in what was technically a home match, the Buckeyes dominated #24 Purdue, 35-7 earlier today. A match that was played at St. Paris Graham HS, is something the Buckeyes have been doing annually, where they complete one match each year at a high school in Ohio. OSU won all individual matches except at 133 and 285.

Next up for the Buckeyes is a big one, it will be the premier dual of the entire season as #2 Ohio State travels to #1 Penn State on Saturday.

The match of the year in college wrestling didn't disappoint last night, as the Buckeyes ultimately fell to #1 Penn State on the road 19-18. Both the Buckeyes and Nittany Lions split match wins right down the middle, but bonus points were the difference in the victory for PSU.

Next up for OSU is a match next Sunday as they travel to Michigan.
