ARIZONA FIRES RICH ROD

Post by Omega »

Too many men in a position of authority think with their other brain:

Arizona has fired head football coach Rich Rodriguez following a sexual harassment investigation by the university.

In a joint statement from University of Arizona President Robert C. Robbins and Athletic Director Dave Heeke on Jan. 2, the school outlines an investigation into Rodriguez following a complaint by a former employee in the Department of Athletics in October.

That investigation concluded on Dec. 28, the school said. It will honor "the separation terms of his contract," which would include a $6.3 million buyout.

According to the statement, the school ultimately found that the original specific harassment allegations against Rodriguez could not be substantiated based on the evidence and witnesses available to it.

Arizona said the woman declined multiple requests from the university to participate in the investigation into her allegations. In addition, she was unwilling to turn over communications that she alleged provided support for her allegations.

That didn't save Rodriguez's job, though. According to Arizona, the athletic department became "aware of information, both before and during the investigation, which caused it to be concerned with the direction and climate of the football program."

Only in the USA can you get fired and leave with a 6.3 million parting gift.

Not saying the allegations are true in this day and age where women are out for a payday. One would think that these universities would have a clause in the coach's contract where a sexual harassment suit voids their buyout.

The previous administration weaponized Title IX on college campuses. Of course sexual harassment and border line boorish behavior really does not belong anywhere. Most employment contracts do have "morals" or detrimental behavior clauses. Arizona probably saved money and headaches by paying the buyout instead of having to go to court to defend not paying it. The old don't go away mad, just go away principle.

If it is bad enough to get fired then pressure from outside the university should force them to rethink paying Rod off. Just like the uproar in Tenn and that was something that was never proven or even made an issue of. The mob got their way. With the way things are going in our country all schools will be looking at to modify all the coaches contracts as well as provide training to prevent this the best they can.
