The story now has Maryland coach Durkin being placed on administrative leave while abuse claims are being investigated. From Bleacher Report:

Maryland head football coach DJ Durkin has been placed on administrative leave by the university while it investigates allegations of a "toxic culture" exposed in an ESPN report.

Athletic director Damon Evans announced offensive coordinator Matt Canada will take over as the program's coach during the investigation.

"We must do better, and we will rebuild a culture of respect in our football program," Evans' statement read.r

The media made such a big issue at OSU at what is going on over about what may or may not have happened and who knew about it. Then if it was reported. Maryland fact is a player died. So that needs to be checked out why and it could have been repeated. Then all the other stuff going on to get staff suspended and now the coach. The truth needs to come out. If other schools didn't get the message before this sure is another wake up call. Hope it is not true but if it is criminal charges could be brought against some staff.

Maryland has admitted to not diagnosing McNair correctly leading to his death. Then saying they are sorry to his family. As they look into this more.
The strength coach resigns over this but came up with a payout for $315,000 to leave. Major screw ups get paid big bucks to leave. A big mess at Maryland as the search for the truth or cover up goes on.

It's a Tragedy that someone lost their life! Absolutely Tragedy. However, how in the World is this Maryland's coaches fault? I have been watching the ESPN and BIG TEN Media and they are relentless. Also, watch the Hypocrocy of these stations. Roll Tide show on ESPN has Saban constantly saying get to your breaking point and Get through it. If an Alabama player gets to their breaking point but refuses to stop and later Dies would this not be on Saban? Obviously, this hasn't happened but could. these players will do anything and push their bodies beyond what they should be pushed. Another scenario from this show is Saban took his players Tubing. He even said many of these players can't swim. What if he throws a kid off the Tube and they Break their neck or lose their vest and Drown! Then what? I know it's hypothetical but it could happen.

All D 1 coaches push their players to a level that could very easily cause harm or death. We need to quit blowing things completely out of proportion and blowing these programs up! Maryland's coach is taking the fall for Idiot Strength coaches back in May. Why in the World is this story just coming out in August when it happened two months ago?

The problem is that Durkin hired and is supposed to have supervised the idiot strength coach who allegedly made poor decisions that led to a death of a football player. In this day and age, the coaches and staff implicated in this situation may face criminal charges in the People's Republic of Maryland.
