The lady Buckeyes will begin the regular season this Thursday with a massive road trip. Ohio State (picked to finish 2nd in the Big Ten), will travel to #3 Duke on Thursday, then remain in the state to play at #6 North Carolina on Sunday. The tough road trip doesn't end there though, as they will travel to #7 Florida next Friday.

The Buckeyes had an extremely tough match to open the 2018 season, as they traveled to #3 Duke and fell to the Blue Devils 2-0. After a scoreless first half, Duke scored in less than three minutes into the second half, then added a goal that sealed the victory late in the game. The Buckeyes had one solid scoring opportunity in the first half when Kayla Fischer drove straight down the middle of the Duke defense in a 1v4 situation where she was fouled and Duke received a yellow card just outside the box. Arden Holden took the free kick from 20 yards out and it narrowly missed high.

Ohio State has another huge match coming up on Sunday when they travel to #6 North Carolina to face-off against another top ranked ACC team.

For the second straight match, #23 Ohio State drops a tough, hard fought, road contest to another top ten ranked ACC team. On Sunday, that loss came at the hands of #6 North Carolina, by a final score of 2-0. The Buckeyes had two solid scoring chances in the first half, one was a header from Kayla Fischer in the 17th minute, and the other came from a shot that Sarah Roberts took in the 26th minute, both of those attempts were saved by the UNC goalie. The Tar Heels then took the lead in the 37th minute of the first half as Brianna Pinto converted a free kick that nestled inside the far post.

There were several saves made by both goalies in the second half, but UNC ultimately scored one more to secure their victory in the 58th minute when Bridgette Andrzejewski headed in a crossing pass from the left wing.

The next match won't be any easier for the Buckeyes as they will travel to #7 Florida (current ranking) on Friday, before they open up their home schedule next Sunday.

Playing on the road against yet another top tier nationally ranked team, the Buckeyes finally got in the win column on Friday night, winning at #5 Florida 1-0. For the first time this season, the Buckeyes were at full strength with their roster, and it tremendously helped! The name of the game was defense, defense, defense. Freshman Kayla Fischer scored the game winner for OSU, as she scored in the 56th minute in the second half off a left-footed strike from 12 yards out. That lone goal proved to be all the Buckeyes needed to notch their first win of the year.

The Buckeyes will be at home for the first time this season as they host Duquesne.

In what was supposed to be the home opener for the Buckeyes on Sunday night against Duquesne, was cancelled due to inclement weather. The game will not be rescheduled. This means their home opener will be Thursday night when they host Morehead State.

Putting up a second win on the season for the Buckeyes, they destroyed Morehead State 8-0 in their home opener on Thursday night. Emaly Vatne highlighted the Buckeyes night, proving just how talented OSU's freshman class has been so far. Alyssa Baumbick also added two goals for Ohio State. That hat trick from Vatne was just the 15th hat trick in OSU history.

Although it was a major victory, the Buckeyes didn't even score until the 23rd minute, when Talani Barnett scored her first career goal on a helper from Eleanor Gabriel. Just one minute later, Barnett made it to the end line and played a cross to Kayla Fischer who headed the goal home. The final goal in the first half came with just under five minutes left when Vatne scored her first career goal on a score from the right wing.

Then came the second half when OSU seemingly scored at will. The eight goals score by Ohio State is the third-most in a single game in program history. They scored 14 goals against Robert Morris in 1995, 9 against Valparaiso in 1996 and another 8 against Xavier in 2004.

The Buckeyes next test will come against a Notre Dame team that is receiving votes on Sunday in South Bend.

A back and forth, low-scoring victory for the Buckeyes this afternoon, 1-0 over Notre Dame, meant three straight victories for the OSU. Blair Cowan's game-winner in the 80th minute, late in the game, resulted as the lone goal of the match. Ohio State had more shots on the game, 12-9. More shots on goal, 6-5. And, more corner kicks, 5-1. Both teams recorded 5 saves.

Next up for the Buckeyes, they will host Florida Gulf Coast on Friday.

It wasn't an easy night for the Buckeyes at home, as they lost to a receiving votes Florida Gulf Coast team, 1-0. It was a pretty uneventful match, as FGC scored in the 12th minute of the game, and there were no more goals scored after that.

OSU will have their conference opener next Friday as they travel to Penn State.

Opening up their Big Ten season, the Buckeyes traveled to #21 Penn State, and fell 4-0. The Nittany Lions were unable to get on the board until the 32nd minute of the match, but then that opened up the flood gates, as they were able to score 4 goals.

They are now off again until next Thursday as they travel to Illinois.

After dropping their last two matches against two very good teams, the Buckeyes were able to get back in the win column last night, defeating a solid Illinois team, 2-0, in Champaign. OSU wasted no time getting on the scoreboard first, as Eleanor Gabriel reached the back of the net, less than four minutes in. There were several shots on goal in the rest of the first half for both teams, but nothing reached. Then, after a few good shots for Illinois in the second half, Gabriel scored her second goal of the game in the 74th minute. Notching the win for Ohio State.

The Buckeyes will remain in Illinois through the weekend after evening their record, to face-off against #21 Northwestern on Sunday.

If you're into low scoring games, it was a thriller this afternoon in Evanston as the Buckeyes took on #21 Northwestern, ultimately winning 1-0 in overtime. The game was deadlocked, where there were very few chances in the first half, in the second half, there were a few more chances but ultimately not great scoring chances.

Overtime was a little more interesting, as OSU had a pair of corner kicks near the end of OT, and couldn't connect on either of them. Then Talani Barnett was taken down just outside the box with under 10 seconds left in the first OT. Rodriguez then took a free kick that landed in the back of the net to give the Buckeyes a walk-off victory.

OSU will host Iowa in their next game on Thursday.

It seems as though the Lady Buckeyes have hit their stride of late, as they picked up their third consecutive victory this evening, defeating Iowa in Columbus, 2-0. The first half of the game did not net many good opportunities, therefore neither team was able to score. The first goal of the game came in the 71st minute as Talani Barnett was able to play a header into the back of the net. Fast forward to the 83rd minute of play, the Buckeyes were able to score the final goal of the night to secure a victory, when Izzy Rodriguez nailed a penalty kick into the back of the net.

Next up for Ohio State, they will host a solid receiving votes team in Nebraska to try to keep their win streak growing.

For the first time this season, the Buckeyes played a game to a draw against a solid, receiving votes team in Nebraska, as they tied 1-1 after double overtime. The first 20 minutes of control went the way of OSU, but in the 25th minute, the Cornhuskers were able to convert and Ohio State turnover into an 8-yard score. The game was all defense the rest of the first half.

Then in the second half (58th minute), the Buckeyes struck the back of the net to tie the game on an Izzy Rodriguez corner kick that bent just past the goal keeper. Nebraska had a scoring opportunity late in regulation, but it was snuffed out by OSU. Ohio State had just two good opportunities in extra time, but failed to convert, sending both teams home with a tie.

It will be a trip up to the state up North next time out for OSU. As they travel to Michigan on Friday and Michigan State on Sunday.

Heading into Friday, the Buckeyes had published a four match streak where they had not lost, but were unable to hold to that, as they fell on the road to Michigan in Ann Arbor, 1-0. This game was all defense for both sides. Each team really only had one good scoring chance in the first half, but both of those chances failed. In the 54th minute came the only goal of the game, as Michigan was able to play a crossing shot that sailed past the OSU goalkeeper. The Buckeyes nearly found the net in the 70th minute, but her shot was deflected at the last second.

Ohio State stays up north over the weekend, as they travel to Michigan State for a Sunday contest.

Sunday was a successful day for the Buckeyes in East Lansing, as they defeated Michigan State 1-0. Not many opportunities presented itself in the first half. But then in the 51st minute, shortly after the halftime break, Marissa Birzon scored her second goal of the season on a 10 yard, left-footed shot from a Kayla Fischer helper to give OSU the lead, and the only goal of the game for either team.

Ohio State will stay at home this coming week, as they host Rutgers on Friday and Maryland on Sunday.

After two consecutive ties, the Buckeyes finally got back in the win column on the road at Purdue, defeating the Boilermakers 2-1. Less than five minutes into the game, Kayla Fischer gave the Buckeyes the lead, wasting no time, taking a crossing pass and scoring from 12 yards out. Moving ahead to the second half, Purdue tied the game up in the 50th minute. Fischer then took charge for OSU, scoring her second goal of the game in the 66th minute to give the Buckeyes the final goal of the game, and the win.
