It was a great effort for the Lady Buckeyes on Friday night, as they kicked off their 2018 season against #9 Delaware in Columbus, but ultimately fell 3-2. The Blue Hens struck goal first as they poured in a goal just eight minutes into the first half. Then, putting the Buckeyes in deep trouble, Delaware scored yet again off a penalty corner with five minutes to play in the first half. The Buckeyes finally scored with under two minutes of play remaining in the first half as Courtney Daniels set up Whitney Harris for the goal.

On the first penalty corner of the second half, the Buckeyes scored to tie the game up off an Esther Clotet goal with assists from Sammy Stone and Hannah Pany. Then, with only four minutes to play, the Blue Hens scored the game winner off the stick of Greta Nauck. OSU had one more solid chance on a penalty corner, but the shot was not to be, and the Buckeyes dropped their season opener.

In their next game, it won't get any easier for the Buckeyes as they travel to #8 Louisville on Sunday.

It was another thriller for the Buckeyes on Sunday, after narrowly losing to #9 Delaware to open the season, they went on the road to face off against #8 Louisville earlier today and came out with a 3-2 victory in overtime. The Buckeyes struggled in the first half, giving up goals in both the 15th and 17th minutes to go down 2-0. But, the second half was completely different, as OSU held the Cardinals scoreless. Just a few minutes into the second half, Courtney Daniels scored the first Buckeyes goal.

Then, with just two minutes to play, the Buckeyes struck! Sammy Stone hit the back of the net. When the clock hit zero the game was tied at 2. It took just under a minute and a half for the Buckeyes to end the game in overtime, as Esther Clotet scored the game-winner.

Next up for Ohio State, they'll travel to Boston this coming weekend where they'll play Maine on Saturday and Boston on Monday.

No game that the Buckeyes play ends without drama, even though OSU fell to #25 Maine 2-1 in OT in Boston. The 24th ranked Buckeyes and the Black Bears went the first 52 minutes without scoring, Maine was the first on the scoreboard as they scored off a rebound shot. Just two minutes later, OSU freshman Jessica Hourihane converted a corner opportunity to tie the game up. The score remained the same at the end of regulation. At the 4:23 mark in overtime, Maine recovered possession after a blocked shot, took a shot, and scored the game-winning goal.

Another tough test is up next for Ohio State on Monday as they play at #19 Boston.

The Buckeyes were able to even up their season record at 2-2 earlier today, as they traveled to #19 Boston, and won 4-2. OSU came into the game ready to go, scoring off a corner just four minutes in. With just under 15 minutes to play in the first half, Boston was able to tie the game at 1-1. The second half is when most of the scoring came, as Boston was the first on the board, and would turn out to be their last. Just a minute later, the Buckeyes responded with a goal of their own. Just three minutes later, the Buckeyes would score again to take the lead for good. Then, just for assurance, Ohio State was able to take a rebounded blocked shot and dump it into the net to seal the deal.

Next up for OSU is this weekend, as they will host Ball State on Friday and Lehigh on Sunday.

Playing their first game of the weekend, the Buckeyes steamrolled Ball State, winning 6-0. That win gave the Buckeyes their first win streak of the season, sitting at two in a row. Despite the high scoring game, no goals were scored in the first half, but the Buckeyes were able to take 7 shots with 3 on goal. They also kept the Cardinals from recording a single shot in the first half.

The second half was a different story, as Nikki Trzaska scored just under two minutes into the half. Only two minutes later, Esther Clotet scored to make it 2-0. Another goal came again 5 minutes later as Whitney Harris scored her second goal of the season. The next two goals came within 30 seconds of each other, Casey Cole scored off a rebound followed by a fast break score from Sina Schwinn. The final score of the game came again from Cole as she scored with 13 minutes remaining.

The six goals for OSU were the most they've scored in a single game since 2015 against Cal.

Next up, Ohio State will face off against Lehigh at home on Sunday.

The Buckeyes rolled another team this weekend in defeating Lehigh 5-0, earning their second shutout of the season (and their second in a row). OSU scored just eight minutes into the game, as Julianna Sweeney scored off a rebounded shot. Ten minutes later, Adelaide Penzone scored her first goal of the season off a crossing pass. That ended the scoring of the first half.

Casey Cole then proceeded to score her fifth goal of the season to give the Buckeyes a 3-0 lead over the Mountain Hawks. Freshman Katie Pyle then scored her first career goal 62 minutes into the game. Esther Clotet rounded out the scoring for the Buckeyes just a few minutes later.

Next up, the Buckeyes will get into Big Ten play next Friday as they host Penn State.

After riding a three game win streak, the Buckeyes took their streak into Friday's game at home in their Big Ten opener, ultimately losing to #6 Penn State, 3-2.

PSU was the first on the board, scoring just eight minutes into the first half. Freshman Sina Schwinn recorded her first career goal after 20 minutes of play, to tie the game at 1-1. Senior Kelsey Nolan then gave the Buckeyes their first an only lead of the game with a goal in the 41st minute. OSU was able to hold the lead for 18 minutes, but ultimately the Nittany Lions were able to score off a rebound in the second half. Then, they scored the game winner just 6 minutes later for the final goal of the game.

Next up, the Buckeyes will host Miami (OH) on Sunday.

The Buckeye faithful left the OSU campus on Sunday in shock, as they 22nd ranked Buckeyes, who have played so well this season, fell to visiting Miami (OH) 2-1. OSU came out of the gates fast, as they scored just over two minutes in off the stick of Esther Clotet (her 5th of the season). The game went scoreless for the next 20+ minutes, before the Redhawks got a break away and were able to tie the game up.

Then came the second half, that was scoreless for the first 20+ minutes. In the 55th minute of play, Miami was able to tip in a wide shot on goal to take the lead for the first time, in what ended up being the game-winning goal.

Ohio State will be back in action on Friday when they travel to Maryland.

It was another extremely tough match for the ladies, as they fell to #3 Maryland on the road on Friday, 1-0. Ohio State played an extremely well-rounded game. The lone goal of the game was scored just two and a half minutes into the game. After that, it looked like it would be a long night for OSU, but their defense really came to play after giving up the first goal. With that loss, the Buckeyes are now 0-13 all-time against Maryland.

They will stay out on the East Coast, as they travel to and play Rutgers on Sunday.

The Buckeyes trip out to the east coast ended in what would be considered a success, as they defeated #17 Rutgers 4-3 in double overtime on Sunday afternoon. OSU got on the board first in the 2nd minute as Kelsey Nolan scored her 2nd goal of the season. Just over a minute later, Rutgers tied the game up. Then eight and a half minutes later Katie Pyle put OSU back on top with her 2nd goal of the season. Less than two minutes later, the Scarlet Knights tied the game up again, and then in the 27th minute, scored one more time to give Rutgers the lead headed into the half.

Ohio State was then able to tie the game back up in the second half in the 63rd minute on a Courtney Daniels goal (her 2nd of the season). After that, it was a deadlock for a long time, going scoreless the remainder of the second half, and also the first overtime. At exactly the 100 minute mark, Kelsey Nolan scored her 2nd goal of the game to give the Buckeyes the victory.

Next up, the Buckeyes will host Indiana on Friday.

The Buckeyes kept the win train rolling this afternoon, notching their second consecutive, defeating Indiana in Columbus, 1-0. The first 22 minutes of the game was all defense, but then at the 22:11 mark in the first half, Casey Cole scored her 6th goal of the season on a deflection shot. The second half was all defense, as neither team was able to score.

The Hoosiers were only able to get off one shot the entire game, which came in the first half.

Next up, the Buckeyes will host #13 Iowa at noon on Sunday.

In what turned out to be a great game in Columbus on Sunday, the Buckeyes fell to #13 Iowa 2-1 in double overtime. The Hawkeyes hit the board first, on their first penalty corner of the day, just 12 minutes into the game to take a 1-0 lead. That was all the action there was in the first half. Then, ten minutes into the second half, Jessica Hourihane struck goal for the Buckeyes to tie the game up at 1-1, with those two goals being the only ones in regulation.

OSU played a great offensive and defensive game (along with Iowa) in the first overtime period, but neither team had anything to show for it, as they headed into a second overtime. Five minutes into the second overtime, the Buckeyes luck ran out, as Iowa was able to score the game-winner.

Next up, Ohio State will travel to Northwestern on Friday before they host Ohio on Sunday.

The 25th ranked Buckeyes got a massive victory on Friday evening, traveling to Northwestern and defeating the #12 ranked Wildcats, 2-1. The first half of the game went completely scoreless as both teams were only able to muster up a total of 5 shots combined. The first goal of the game was scored by Genevieve Penzone just eight minutes into the second, to put the Buckeyes up 1-0. Only two minutes later, Northwestern responded on a penalty corner to tie the game up.

In the 58th minute of play, Sammy Stone took a corner shot that Esther Clotet ripped home to take the lead one last time, and take home the victory to Columbus.

Next up, OSU will get in three non-conference games in a row, starting against Ohio on Sunday.

Ohio State was able to clock in with another victory on Sunday, making it 2 in a row and 4 of their last 5. This time, they defeated in-state rival Ohio, 5-2. OSU was the first on the board off a Sammy Stone goal in the 14th minute of play. Just six minutes later, the Buckeyes scored again to go up 2-0 when Emma Goldean scored off a rebound. The Bobcats didn't lay down though, as they scored in the 20th minute, which was the final goal of the half.

Just a minute and a half into the second half, Nikki Trzaska put the Buckeyes back on the board. In the 42nd minute, Sammy Stone struck gold again as she put another in the back of the net. With just 13 minutes of play remaining, OU was able to get back on the board with a penalty corner shot, to make it 4-2. Then, just for insurance in the 63rd minute, Katie Pyle poured one into the back of the net for the Buckeyes to secure the victory.

Next up for OSU, they will host James Madison on Friday and travel to Kent State on Sunday.
