The Buckeyes got an early start to the season on Thursday evening, as they hosted Alabama in a dual meet. OSU claimed victory in the 200 Fly (as well as 2nd, 4th, 5th, 6th). Freshmen Ruslan Gaziev and Sem Andreis went 1 & 3 in the 50 free. Gaziev also won the 100 free, while posting a national qualifying time in the event.

The divers dominated the 3 meter dive, going 1st, 2nd and 3rd. Jason Matthews and Paul DeLakis finished 1st & 2nd in the 200 breast. In the 100 fly, the Buckeyes placed 2nd, 3rd and 4th. In other diving, the Buckeyes also went 1st, 2nd and 3rd on the one meter board.

Four freshmen won their individual events for the Buckeyes, which is huge: Ruslan Gaziev - 50 free & 100 free; Jason Matthews - 200 breast; Jacob Fielding - 1 meter dive. That also makes it two straight years that the Buckeyes have started the year off early, with a win against Alabama.

It will be a couple weeks before they are back in action, as their next event will be a tri-meet where they will host Texas A&M and Louisville.
