For the second season in a row, the Buckeyes opened up the season with a victory over Alabama. OSU jumped all over the Tide, winning 181-119. The Buckeyes got off to a fast start, cruising to victory in the 400 meter medley relay. Ohio State then went 1st and 2nd in the 200 free. They also went 1st and 2nd in the 100 back. OSU also followed that one up with a victory in the 100 breast.

The team participating in the 200 fly took the Tide out to the woodshed, as the Buckeyes finished the race in 1st, 3rd, 4th and 5th. Freya Rayner dominated in the 50 free and 100 free, winning both races. Just like the men, the ladies finished 1st, 2nd and 3rd on the one meter and three meter diving boards. In the 500 free, Molly Kowal claimed victory for the Buckeyes.

Then, in the 200 IM, the Buckeyes finished the race in 1st and 3rd. Finishing out the evening, the 400 free relay team claimed victory.

OSU will have a few weeks off of competition before hosting a tri against Texas A&M and Louisville on October 12 and 13.

The women's swimmers and divers ended their first day of a tri-meet by trailing #5 Texas A&M 104-63. Louisville was scheduled to compete as a team, but they did not send a complete women's team so they are not included in the scoring.

The Buckeyes earned wins in the 200 free relay, 500 free and 3-meter diving board.

They will look to finish on Saturday on a high note.

• 400 IM – Kristen Romano, fourth place (4:11.74)

• 800 Free Relay – Kristen Romano, anchor leg for Big Ten “B”, third place (1:47.37 split, 7:10.07 relay time)
• Platform – Lara Tarvit, seventh place (250.25)
• 1000 Free – Molly Kowal, sixth place (9:46.59)
• 200 Free – Kristen Romano, eighth place (1:48.81)
• 3-Meter – Genevieve Angerame, 12th place (262.70)
• 400 Free Relay – Kristen Romano, leadoff leg for Big Ten “B”, fifth place (50.74 split, 3:20.49 relay time)

Don't let the final place for the Buckeyes this weekend fool you, as it was an absolutely loaded field on the women's side at the OSU Invite. #3 Stanford won the meet with 2499 points, followed by #14 Notre Dame with 2011.5 points, and #17 Kentucky in third with 1898 points. The 23rd ranked Buckeyes finished in 4th place with 1849 points.

Next up for Ohio State is Winter Nationals, as they travel to Greensboro, North Carolina to compete next Wednesday through Saturday.
