After a season that included a trip to the final four, and an end of season #4 ranking for the Buckeyes, they have reloaded and returning players have worked hard, and they have received a #7 preseason ranking.

Ohio State will begin the season this weekend by traveling to Connecticut to play Quinnipiac on both Friday and Saturday.

It was a pretty good night for the Buckeyes, as they opened their season on the road at Quinnipiac in Connecticut tonight, winning 3-2. Just under three minutes into second period, Emma Maltais scored the opening goal of the season for either team, giving OSU a 1-0 advantage. Skipping ahead to the first minute of the third period, the Bobcats were able to tie the game up at 1-1. Then, at the half way point of the third period, OSU's Liz Schepers was able to give the Buckeyes the lead for good.

With less than five minutes left to play, the Buckeyes added an insurance goal off the stick of Madison Field, going up 3-1. The Bobcats were able to score a late goal after pulling their goalie, but it ended up too little too late, as the Buckeyes won 3-2.

They will play their second and final game tomorrow afternoon with a 2pm face-off time, before returning home.

For the second straight game, the Buckeyes earned a 3-2 victory at Quinnipiac, earning a series sweep to open the season. Early on in the second period, Liv Soares hit the back of the net for the Buckeyes, giving them a 1-0 lead. The shot was hit so hard, and bounced out of the net so quickly, that the officials had to take a second look on replay to be sure it even went in. Near the midway point of the second period, Quinnipiac was able to tie the game up. That lead did not last long though, as Tatum Skaggs picked up a pass and placed it in the back of the net to give the Buckeyes the lead again at 2-1 late in the second.

Early on in the third period, the Bobcats were able to score a second goal to tie the game up again. Then, Skaggs struck again for OSU in the final minutes of the third, clinching a victory.

Next weekend, the Buckeyes will be back in action as they host Colgate on Friday and Saturday.

The Buckeyes home opener went their way on Friday night, defeating #8 Colgate 4-3. OSU fell behind early, as they went down 1-0 12 minutes into the game. But, Colgate's lead didn't last long as Tatum Skaggs scored her third goal of the season to even the score just under 90 seconds later. Just before the first period buzzer, Colgate won some momentum as they were able to pick up a 2-1 lead.

Two minutes into the second period, Rebecca Freiburger was able to even things up for the Buckeyes with a goal of her own. At the seven minute mark, Ohio State took their first lead off a goal from Charly Dahlquist (her first of the year). Just 43 seconds later, Colgate answered the Buckeyes score with one of their own, to tie the game up again. The Buckeyes gave it one last effort in the second period, as Lauren Boyle scorched one into the back of the net with just under six remaining in the period, to give the Buckeyes the lead for good. The entire 3rd would go scoreless, as the Buckeyes held off Colgate throwing the kitchen sink at them.

OSU and Colgate will wrap up their series tomorrow with a 3pm face-off.

Kicking off conference play for the season, the Buckeyes hosted WCHA rival Minneosta State, and rolled them 4-0. The first period of the game went completely scoreless, although OSU did rattle off 19 shots-on-goal. That stalemate was broken as Charly Dahlquist scored her second goal of the year near the midway point of the second period. Just over five minutes later, Emma Maltais doubled the Buckeyes lead with a goal of her own (her second of the year).

Lisa Bruno scored her first career goal, 6:47 into the third period, giving the Buckeyes a 3-0 lead. Putting a cherry on top for the game, the final goal came from Sam Bouley (her first of the year) with less than 10 minutes of play left.

The Buckeyes and Mavericks will play again on Saturday at 1pm.

The Gophers cruised to a 3-0 victory on Friday night. But, on Saturday, the Buckeyes were able to squeeze out a victory, 3-2.

The 4th ranked Buckeyes didn't get the start to the weekend they wanted, but nearly mounted a full comeback at #10 St. Lawrence on Friday. OSU fell behind early in the first period in this one, after one period of play, they trailed 2-0. Nearly at the 9 minute mark of the second, the Buckeyes finally got on the board. No scoring happened the rest of the second, but just 30 seconds into the third period, Tatum Skaggs tied the game up for OSU. With just under 10 minutes remaining in regulation, St. Lawrence scored one more time to give them the lead, and eventually the win, as the Buckeyes could not mount another scoring drive.

They will wrap up the series in Canton, NY on Saturday at 3pm.

Voting wise, OSU and Minnesota-Duluth entered this weekend tied for 7th in the nation in the national poll, so, it was only fitting that they face-off against each other this weekend in a two game series. The Buckeyes showed that they were the better team on Friday night, as they used a smothering defensive effort to earn a 3-1 win.

At the 6:22 mark of the first period, Duluth got on the board first, but it turned out to be their only score of the game. OSU then proceeded to score the next three goals to take the victory.

These two teams will play again tomorrow to wrap up their series at 1pm.
