It was a tough weekend for the Buckeyes as they hosted #2 Minnesota, and dropped both games, 7-2 and 7-1.

They'll look to get back on the right track next weekend as they play two games at St. Cloud State.

The Buckeyes picked up another shut out in their weekend sweep of St. Cloud State, winning 5-0 on Saturday. They only scored one goal in the first period, but were able to have a dominant defensive half, weathering the storm of St. Cloud State who came out shooting early and often. In the second, OSU put 18 SOG, but were only able to record one goal off a rebound put-back. Finally in the third, the Buckeyes poured in 3 goals for the sprinkles on top.

Next up, Ohio State will host Bemidji State next Friday and Saturday.

OSU was stunned by Bemidji State in Columbus last night to open their series, falling 3-2. The Buckeyes took a 2-0 lead after the first period, but BSU wasted little time in the second, tying up the game 2-2 at the end of the second period. Then, Bemidji State grabbed the lead once and for all in the third period.

Wrapping up the regular season this weekend in Wisconsin, the Buckeyes and #1 Badgers match-up was an epic one. They took a tied game at 1-1 into overtime where it stayed tied. Ensuring one team would earn a point in the conference standings, the Buckeyes picked up the win in the shootout to earn the bonus point.

The regular season wraps up on Saturday at 4pm at Wisconsin.

The Buckeyes success against #1 Wisconsin continued this season, as they tied the Badgers 2-2 after overtime on Saturday, and earned a shootout win which gave them a bonus point in the conference standings. OSU scored just 23 seconds into the game to take a 1-0 lead. Wisconsin fired away on goal, but the Buckeyes stopped all 12 shots in the period.

Then in the second period. the Buckeyes earned another goal on a power play to take a 2-0 lead. The Badgers really put the pressure on in the second, but the Buckeye freshman goalkeeper saved all 26 shots in the second period. The third period is where it all clicked for Wisconsin, as they got back in the game and tied it up before the end of regulation to send it to overtime.

Overtime wasn't much success on the offensive end for either team, as the defenses and goalkeepers showed up to play, holding both team scoreless. The Buckeye goalkeeper was yet again the difference in the shootout, as the Buckeyes took the advantage and earned a bonus point in the conference standings.

Next up is the WCHA Tournament. The Buckeyes will host Minnesota State in a best of 3 series next Friday through Sunday. Ohio State is 3-1 so far this year against Minnesota State.

Playing against #2 Wisconsin for the fifth time this season, it wasn't a triumph this time around for the #9 Buckeyes, as they fell to the Badgers in the WCHA Semifinals 3-2. That loss knocks the Buckeyes out of the conference tournament. So, now they will wait to see if they receive an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament.
