Valenth's Expectations for CFB Saturday Week #6

Post by Valenth »

I sit here looking at all of the match-ups and some things I'd love to share..

I think we See Alabama and Ohio State roll to wins.

I think we will see Clemson, LSU and Georgia challenged... But still win.

My teams who could be upset. Kentucky and Stanford.

I think Maryland will give Michigan issues.

The Red River Rivalry OK vs Tex will be a shootout. I see 70+ points scored in this game.

Give me your thoughts...

Your analysis is spot on.

One other big game is Notre Dame at VPI. The Domers are a threat to beat out Ohio State for a CFP slot if they win out. Should be a great contest at Blacksburg.

Good stuff! I agree with all your points.

I think that we're not really sure what Stanford is going to bring to the table right now. Whenever Utah plays, they have the chance to win, so that is definitely a possibility of an upset.

Northwestern vs. Michigan State may not seem like a high profile matchup. But, I don't trust Michigan State, that could be an upset in the making.

If both ND and OSU win out, there is not a chance that ND goes into the playoffs in front of OSU. At all. OSU will have another top win in the B1G Championship game against Wisconsin (more than likely). ND cannot complain because they have turned down joining a conference time and again. Its their own fault if that ends up being the case.

Even a one loss OSU team that wins the B1G goes in before an undefeated ND team for the same reason, as long as the one OSU loss isnt from *ichigan since ND beat them in their head to head.

I see Clemson getting one loss, ND getting one loss , OSU has the potential for one loss and Bama definitely has the chance for one regular season loss and then again in the SEC championship (if they win their division and make it there).

LSU could easily get upset vs Florida. Most polls that take all stats into consideration dont even have them in the top 10. LSU is 11th in the FPI and Florida is 13th. So it really wouldnt even be that big of an upset considering they are playing in the swamp.

Bama will roll Arkansas. For crying out loud, Arkansas got beat by Colorado State and North Texas.

Clemson should not struggle with Wake Forest, but I will again say that Clemson's schedule is trash. Furman? Georgia Southern? Come on. As of today, there is ONE team ranked in the top 25 on Clemson's schedule, which is NC State. If Clemson wins that game against NC State they will more than likely finish the season with zero wins over top 25 teams.

Georgia may be in a game vs Vandy the first half but shouldnt get too big of a scare.

I think Kentucky gets past Texas A&M who struggled to beat Arkansas (See above). Kentucky may only lose to Georgia later in the year. How big of turn around would that be?

Stanford and Utah may be a very close game. Wouldnt surprise me if Utah wins. Stanford should have never won their game against Oregon.

Now it gets very interesting..........

I have *ichigan on upset alert. IF......thats a BIG IF......Maryland can establish a running game in AA, they will win the game. They have to play the same level of football they did against Texas and a little more. I am still scratching my head as to why Pat Fitzgerald got so conservative against *ichigan last week with a 17 point lead. And remember, Barry Larkin's son was the leading rusher for Northwestern and actually quit right before they played *ichigan due to health issues. Maryland can run the ball much better than Northwestern. If Maryland can come up with some type of effective passing game to stay balanced on offense, I think they pull off the upset.

Texas vs Oklahoma- forget the spread, rankings, etc. This has been a one possession ball game for the past several years. The difference is this: Texas now has a decent passing game and can run the ball. I think this game goes one way or the other, with Texas winning a very close game or OK blowing them out, which I dont see happening.
A Texas win will put them and WVU at the top of the heap in the B12.

Lastly, ND gets beat this weekend in Blacksburg. I think VT has nothing to lose after going down to Old Dominion. They will play with fire and look much better than we have seen them since they took FSU behind the woodshed.

Lots of interesting games this weekend, thats for sure.

Man, I knew this would be a much tougher game for Michigan State than most thought, about 4 minutes left, same score, Northwestern with the ball.

Also looking like Texas is going to take Oklahoma down.

Texas vs. Oklahoma is a shoot out!!

Looks like Michigan State is going down.

Cincinnati is about to move to 6-0. We might see them in the top 25 this coming week.
