Heck of a showing in session two for the Buckeyes. They moved up to second place (from third), and trail first place Penn State by just 19.5 points. All 5 Buckeyes that competed in the semifinals punched their ticket to the championship match (all will receive auto bids to the NCAA Championships). In addition, Ke-Shawn Hayes, Te'Shan Campbell and Ethan Smith all earned auto bids to the NCAA's. Chase Singletary will not receive an auto bid to NCAAs, but will likely earn an at-large bid. Malik Heinselman will be competing in an additional bracket today with 6 others, competing for the 9th and final spot at 125lbs. He needs two wins to earn that bid.

Results from the second session:

Malik Heinselman (125lbs)
WB2: Loss to #17 Oliver (Indiana); SV2, 13-11

#10 Luke Pletcher (133lbs)
Semifinals: Defeat #1 Micic (Michigan); MFF

#3 Joey McKenna (141lbs)
Semifinals: Defeat #2 Lee (Penn State); D, 5-4

#2 Micah Jordan (149lbs)
Semifinals: Defeat #13 Berge (Penn State); MD, 13-4

#8 Ke-Shawn Hayes (157lbs)
WB2: Defeat #9 Barone (Illinois); D, 3-1
WB3: Loss to #7 Young (Iowa); MD, 11-1

Te'Shan Campbell (165lbs)
WB2: Defeat Brolsma (Minnesota); D, 3-1
WB3: Defeat Martin (Indiana); MD, 11-1

#14 Ethan Smith (174lbs)
WB2: Defeat Covaciu (Indiana); D, 7-3
WB3: Defeat Christensen (Wisconsin); INJ

#1 Myles Martin (184lbs)
Semifinals: Defeat #8 Parker (Illinois); D, 8-3

#2 Kollin Moore (197lbs)
Semifinals: Defeat #5 Warner (Iowa); D, 5-2

#11 Chase Singletary (285lbs)
WB2: Loss to #10 Hemida (Maryland); D, 9-6

The Buckeyes finished as runner-up in the B1G Tournament on Sunday. Penn State (as expected) claimed the conference crown with 157 points, followed by the Buckeyes with 122.5, then Iowa with 107.5. Rounding out the scoring was: Minnesota (101.5), Nebraska (96.5), Michigan (76.5), Wisconsin (76), Northwestern (53.5), Rutgers (53.5), Purdue (42), Illinois (39.5), Indiana (31), Michigan State (29.5) and Maryland (13).

Joey McKenna (141) and Myles Martin (184) both won individual weight class conference titles. Luke Pletcher, Micah Jordan and Kollin Moore all earned conference runner-up finishes. In addition, the Buckeyes earned 9 (out of 10 wrestlers) NCAA qualifications. The only Buckeye in the starting lineup that did not receive an NCAA auto bid was Chase Singletary (285lbs) and he will find out if he has earned an at-large bid on Tuesday.

Chase Singletary (285lbs) did in fact earn an at-large bid to the NCAA Championships. Meaning the entire OSU starting 10 received bids to the tourney. Brackets for the tournament will be released tomorrow.

The Buckeyes took home a huge trophy on Saturday night from the NCAA Championships back to Columbus, but it wasn't the national champion trophy, it was the runner-up trophy. This marks the fifth consecutive top three finish at nationals for the Buckeyes. They finished second with 96.5 points. Penn State won the title yet again with 137.5 points, followed by OSU, and Oklahoma State with 84 points.

Luke Pletcher (133lbs) finished in 4th place.
Joey McKenna (141lbs) finished in 2nd place.
Micah Jordan (149lbs) finished in 2nd place.
Myles Martin (184lbs) finished in 3rd place.
Kollin Moore (197lbs) finished in 2nd place.

They all earned All-American honors for Ohio State.

That closes the books on another extremely successful season for Ohio State Wrestling!
