The season starts next week. I'll keep this updated throughout the season, but let's get the conversation going!

Ohio State will play their exhibition game against UNC-Pembroke tomorrow.

OSU in 18/19 is short on raw talent and experience. Coach Holtmann however seems to have a knack for getting the most out of the players he has on hand. That said the young Bucks have a shot at twenty wins and a possible NCAA tourney berth.

In their exhibition game last night, there was lots of playing time to go around to get everyone prepped for the season with some actual minutes on the floor. OSU topped UNC Pembroke 81-63. Kaleb Wesson looked to be in mid-season form with a 12 point-10 rebound double double. Micah Potter notched 13 points. Kyle Young, Luther Muhammad and Jaedon LaDee notched 9 points each.

Now that they've prepped for the season, it kicks off on Wednesday when they travel to Cincinnati.

I haven't seen any reasoning yet, but that must have been the case. Especially transferring two days before the first game. I couldn't find anything where it said he was transferring to either.

Nice win for the young Buckeyes over UC. Really like Washington and Muhammad. Not often you get Freshman to play that well defensively, early in the season. They have a little "swag" to them also, which is refreshing. Andre Wesson looks much improved, C.J. Jackson played well, and K. Wesson looks trimmed up and poised for a big year. The x factor this team might be Kyle Young. He played very well. Not going to be a big scorer, but he does everything else. The Bucks will have their struggles, but I don't think the outlook is as bleak as first thought. The defensive end will keep them in a lot of games.

Despite a late surge in a comeback attempt from the Bearcats, OSU held on for the 64-56 victory over a very very good Cincinnati team. It was the opening game the Bearcats played in their new arena. Kaleb Wesson led the Buckeyes with 15 points, followed by CJ Jackson (13), Luther Muhammad (11) and Kyle Young with 10 points. Jarron Cumberland led all scorers for Cincy with 22 points.

Young was mister do-it-all for OSU in this one, and it looks like he'll be a lower scoring version of Jae'Sean Tate for the Buckeyes. The first ten minutes of the game were extremely low scoring for both teams. But, then the Buckeyes took over, holding the Bearcats to 14% shooting in the first half with their unbreakable defense. OSU rendered the Cincy offense almost useless for most of the game until the last 6 minutes or so, when they made their late surge. But, the Buckeyes had enough to hold on and claim a season opening victory.

Next up, Ohio State will have their home opener on Sunday when they host Fort Wayne out of the Summit Conference.

Playing against a very solid mid-major program on Sunday afternoon, the Buckeyes rolled to victory in their home opener over Purdue-Fort Wayne, 107-61. CJ Jackson led all scorers with a career high of 25 points. Freshman, Duane Washington Jr scored his career high of 20 points off the bench as well. Four total players went into double digit scoring for OSU. Fort Wayne was led by Kason Harrell and John Konchar with 13 points each.

For their next game, Ohio State will travel to Omaha on Thursday to take on Creighton.

This young team is fun to watch! After years of watching guys like Amir Williams and Marc Loving, it's great to see the effort and enthusiasm of this team. Mohammed is quickly becoming one of my favorite players. He looks to be quite a leader for being a Freshmen. Very interested to see how this year plays out.

The first half wasn't pretty for OSU, but they pulled away in the second half to defeat Samford, 68-50. The Buckeyes move to 5-0, and for the Bulldogs, it was their first loss of the season, as they fall to 4-1.

Kaleb Wesson tied his career high with 19 points, followed by Keyshawn Woods with 14.

Myron Gordon led Samford with 18 points.

Next up, Ohio State will host Cleveland State on Friday at 8pm.

Big game against 'Cuse tomorrow night. I know they aren't ranked, but that would be a big win for this team.

Great start to the season. How good is this coach? Of course it helps to have a double dose of Wesson in the paint.
