The Buckeyes kicked off their season tonight in convincing fashion by shutting out Charleston in Columbus, 3-0 (25-17; 25-18; 25-15). Jake Hanes had a great match for OSU, with 14.5 points, 13 kills, 18 attacks, and a 61.1 hitting percentage. Sanil Thomas led the Buckeyes in assists with 35. Aaron Samarin had 10 digs.

Charleston was led by Maarten Bartels 10 points.

Ohio State is back in action tomorrow against a receiving votes Penn State team at 7pm.

Although just their second match of the season, it was an important one as the Buckeyes got a 3-1 (25-13; 20-25; 25-21; 26-24) victory over visiting Penn State. OSU was led by Jake Hanes with a big 28.5 points, in addition to his 24 kills. Sanil Thomas also had a solid 46 assists.

Penn State was led by 20 points from Calvin Mende.

Ohio State now has a big weekend coming up when they travel out west. They'll play at BYU on Thursday, and at Stanford on Saturday.

The Buckeyes took one on the chin last night on the road in Provo. They took on #5 BYU and fell 3-0 (25-20; 25-23; 27-25). OSU was able to push most sets pretty far, but weren't able to to actually clinch on of them. Jake Hanes put up 24 points for the Buckeyes. And Sanil Thomas tallied 30 assists.

BYU was led by Gabi Garcia Fernande's 18 points.

Ohio State will continue their road trip this weekend as they travel to Palo Alto to take on Stanford tomorrow.

The Buckeyes continued their trip out west on Saturday, and ultimately lost to #11 Stanford, 3-1 (25-22; 24-26; 25-20; 25-21). Jake Hanes led OSU with 27 points, and Sanil Thomas tallied 41 assists.

The Cardinal were led by Jaylen Jasper's 17 points.

Ohio State will get two straight home matches coming up next weekend, as it all starts against George Mason on Friday.

After a less than stellar weekend against top opponents, the Buckeyes dropped from #7 to #11 in this week's poll.

The Buckeyes suffered their third straight loss in stunning fashion on Friday night, as they fell to George Mason 3-1 (25-22; 19-25; 25-21; 25-11). Jake Hanes led OSU with 20.5 points, and Sanil Thomas led in assists with 41.

George Mason was led by Hayden Wagner with 19 points.

Ohio State will continue play at home on Saturday against Erskine.

After suffering three consecutive losses, the Buckeyes got back in the win column over Erskine on Saturday, 3-0 (25-12; 25-22; 25-17). Jake Hanes led the Buckeyes with 16.5 points, followed by Martin Lallemand with 16 points. Sanil Thomas led OSU in assists with 29.

Erskine was led with 6.5 points each by both Alejandro Irizarry and Griffin Spence.

Ohio State hits the road next Saturday to take on MIVA rival Ball State.

After a dominant first set, the Buckeyes dropped three consecutive to lose the match against #13 Ball State, 3-1 (14-25; 25-20; 25-22; 25-22). It's been a tough last couple of weekends for the Buckeyes, but they are looking to get back on track.

Ohio State will host St. Francis (PA) and Lincoln Memorial next weekend.

It's simply been a down year for the Buckeyes so far, as they fell on Friday night to Saint Francis 3-2 (25-18; 25-21; 16-25; 25-27; 15-12). OSU was led by Martin Lellamand with 18.5 points. Parker Mikesch also tallied 39 assists for the Buckeyes.

Ohio State will get another shot at victory this weekend, as they host Lincoln Memorial on Saturday at 8pm.

The Buckeyes picked up a much, much needed win on Saturday, defeating Lincoln Memorial 3-1 (25-23; 25-19; 23-25; 25-23). Martin Lallemand and Sean Ryan each scored 16.5 points for the Buckeyes to lead the way. Parker Mikesch tallied 53 assists for OSU.

Evan Cory had a monster performance for Lincoln Memorial with 22.5 points.

Next up, Ohio State will get into conference play, as they host Purdue Fort Wayne on Tuesday.

For the first time in a long, long time, the Buckeyes dropped out of the rankings (top 15), down to receiving votes.

This is almost a make or break week for them, as they play #15 on Tuesday, #6 on Friday and #1 on Saturday.

Hitting the road and facing #15 Purdue Fort Wayne on Tuesday night, the Buckeyes lost 3-0 (34-32; 25-17; 25-23). They were able to continually extend the first set sending it to extra points numerous times, but were dominated in the second set, and kept it a little interesting in the third. Ethan Talley led OSU with 10 points. Luke Lentin dished out 27 assists as well.

PFW was led by an 18.5 point performance by Pelegrin Vargas.

Next up, Ohio State has a huge weekend as they head to Long Beach, where they will start the weekend by playing UC Santa Barbara on Friday.

For the second straight match, the Buckeyes were shut out 3-0 (25-22; 25-22; 25-12) at the hands of #6 UC Santa Barbara in Long Beach, CA. Reese Devilbiss led the Buckeyes with 10 points, and Parker Mikesch tallied 25 assists.

Corey Chavers led UCSB with 14.5 points.

Next up is even a bigger one, as Ohio State plays #1 Long Beach State tonight at 10pm.

For a third straight match, the Buckeyes fell 3-0, this time it was at the hands of #1 Long Beach State (25-19; 25-18; 25-21). OSU was led by Sean Ryan with 10 points, and 26 assists from Parker Mikesch.

Kyle Ensing led the way for the winners with 13 points.

Next up, Ohio State will begin conference play next Friday at Lindenwood then Saturday at Quincy.

The Buckeyes had a moderately successful weekend on the road as they fell to Lindenwood 3-0 (25-23; 25-19; 25-17) on Friday. But, then they defeated Quincy 3-1 (25-23; 25-19; 24-26; 25-19) on Saturday.

Next up, Ohio State will be back at home when they host Lewis on Thursday.

Unable to mount any momentum, the Buckeyes (5-10; 1-4) fell 3-2 to #10 Lewis (12-4; 5-0) on Thursday night (25-21; 18-25; 26-24; 17-25; 15-11). Although they weren't able to pull off the win, there were some positive signs for the Buckeyes and their season, as they were able to push a top 10 team to the limit in 5 sets, keeping it close in all of them.

OSU was led by Tyler Alter with 20.5 points, while Parker Mikesch tallied 45 assists.

Ryan Coenen led Lewis with 17 points.

Next up, Ohio State will host #7 Loyola-Chicago on Sunday.

The Buckeyes were steamrolled on Sunday afternoon at the hands of #7 Loyola-Chicago by a score of 3-0 (25-14; 25-21; 25-18). The Ramblers were able to keep their unbeaten record alive in conference play by dominating OSU. Martin Lallemend and Sean Ryan led the way for the Buckeyes with 7 points each. Luke Lentin led the way in assists with just 14.

Loyola was led by Will Tischler with 14 points.

Next up, Ohio State will host two matches over the weekend (Friday and Sunday) against McKendree.

The Buckeyes finally picked up another win, this time it was over visiting McKendree 3-1 (25-23; 19-25; 25-18; 26-24). Jake Hanes led the way for OSU with a monster performance of 27 points. Luke Lentin also tallied 57 assists.

Leading McKendree was Zach Schnittker with 15.5 points.

Next up, Ohio State will host McKendree again on Sunday.
