This changes the game some. Because the field has not been the best surface with moisture around. So players who can not make the mistake of not staying on their feet. Giving up or not making a big play. Then turnovers. Either team can win this game. As well as if some of the cheap shots that Alabama players made last week can led to them giving the game away.
As to the expanded playoffs it is fine as it is now. The Bowls system and all that goes on with the teams off the field leading up to the games. Bowls are a money maker for the cities and sponsors. I am a big OSU fan but around the 6th or 7th game many on here were saying that OSU did not deserve to be in the top 20. I responded if they are not top 10 which school do you put in the top 10. This was not a good year for great teams. Which you can also have other years. This can help to create where casual fans are not so into the games. Because now football is taking away from basketball games. As well as taking away from high school basketball games being played on Saturday football game days.
You comment about few "great teams" during the 2018 regular season is spot on. The NY6 bowl games showed parity for the most part. Ohio State could beat anybody outside of the top two or conversely struggle with any team in the top 20.
Of course that and you would have to think the TV cash cow is not infinite. Despite our expanded playoff fantasies, money alone will be the deciding factor.
