After a successful run of seasons for the ladies, and a continued run of success for the men, OSU's women's tennis team will be in a down year, at least from the looks of it, especially with the preseason looks of a strong Big Ten. The Buckeyes will begin the season unranked, and will begin the season in Atlanta, Georgia at the ITA Kickoff where they will face host Georgia Tech, then depending on results of their match and the other match, will face either Auburn or Kentucky.

The Buckeyes weren't even receiving votes last week, but they thrashed two top 25 opponents and are now ranked all the way up to #16 this week.

The Buckeyes posted a solid performance on Sunday, as they defeated #10 Syracuse at ITA Nationals, 5-2, outplaying their ranking. Although that ends their competition at ITA Nationals (since they lost their first round match), they still had a very good showing.

Next up, Ohio State will host two in-state foes, next Wednesday when they host Cleveland State and Akron.

The Buckeyes traveled to Tempe over the weekend and are coming home with two solid victories. On Saturday, they defeated host Arizona State in a tightly contested match, 4-3, in where they definitely earned the victory. Then on Sunday, the Buckeyes rolled to a 7-0 victory over TCU to wrap up their weekend.

Next up will be two added matches for Ohio State, when they face Youngstown State at noon and then again at 5pm on Thursday in Columbus.

The Buckeyes picked up another key non-conference victory on Sunday afternoon in Columbus, as they defeated a solid Baylor team, 5-2. Baylor's two wins came at #1 single and #4 singles. The loss for the Buckeyes at #1 single was quite surprising, but not detrimental to the final score of the match.

Ohio State has nearly a week and a half off before their next match, when they travel to Las Vegas on the 13th to take on UNLV.

The ladies tennis team was able to stay undefeated in conference play on Friday as well, as they defeated Michigan State in East Lansing, 4-1. OSU dominated most of this match, as they only match that they lost was at #5 singles.

Ohio State will stay in that state up north this weekend, as they travel to Ann Arbor to take on a solid Michigan squad on Sunday.

Heading into their Sunday road match with a very good Michigan team, the Buckeyes had won 12 straight matches. But, OSU ended up on the wrong end of this one, as they fell to the Wolverines 4-1. The Buckeyes only win of the match came at #5 singles.

Ohio State will try to get back on the right track as they host Wisconsin and Minnesota this weekend.
