After one of the worst seasons in program history, the Buckeyes will look to rebound in 2019. The Buckeyes finished the season at 1-15-2 (0-7-1) in 2018, with their only win being a 1-0 victory over Hofstra.

OSU will compete in 3 preseason exhibition events. They will compete against Xavier (8/17), Mt. Vernon (8/20) and Butler (8/24) before their regular season opener on 8/30 at the Wolstein Classic in Columbus as they host Cal State Northridge.

One more note on the Buckeyes going into the season. After a very poor season last year, the Buckeyes did win the Columbus Crew collegiate spring league title. The schools in that league consisted of: Bowling Green, Cincinnati, Cleveland State, Dayton, Marshall, Northern Kentucky, Ohio State and Purdue-Fort Wayne. OSU won the league title by defeating BG 3-2 in the championship game, back in April.

Early on, it looked as if it would be all Buckeyes, as OSU took a 2-0 lead into halftime off 2 goals from Jack Holland in the 22nd and 42nd minutes. But, they still had a half to play, where Cal State Northridge scored 3 unanswered goals in the first 15 minutes of the second half. But, the Buckeyes' Omar Grey scored the equalizer in the 80th minute. Just over a minute later, Samuel Salter of CSN scored his second goal of the game to put them up for good.

The Buckeyes lost by a final score of 4-3.

Continuing the Wolstein Classic on Sunday, Ohio State will host Illinois-Chicago.

As the Buckeyes (5-3) took the pitch at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium on Tuesday, they didn't expect to get manhandled, but for West Virginia (5-2-1), that's exactly what happened, as the Buckeyes were blown out 4-1. The Mountaineers hit the board first in the 18th minute of play. Then, the OSU defense held very well, and no more action happened, until the 50th minute when Mitch Bergman scored his first goal of the season for the Buckeyes.

But, that's all they could string together. As WVU would manage to score the next three straight goals, including an own goal on OSU, to take the victory.

Next up, Ohio State travels to Northwestern on Friday.
