This was the Big South opener for both teams. The Blue Hose (5-9,1-0 Big South) won for just the seventh time in twenty four meetings with Campbell (5-8,0-1 Big South. In this one, the Blue Hose simply out-hustled the Campbell making it look like they just wanted it more. Crosby James (Columbia, SC) paced the winners with 23 points. Marquis Barnett (Saginaw, MI) quietly put up a double-double with 11 points and 12 boards. For Campbell Jay Pal (Omaha, NE) led the way with 17 points and 5 boards. The Blue Hose won the field goal % battle 48.3 to 45.6.
