Gallipolis 7th, 8th graders top Pt. Pleasant

Post by jottings »

Gallia Academy Junior High School's seventh and eighth graders toppled Pt. Pleasant Thursday evening on the Washington hardwood.

In the opener, the seventh graders won, 51-40.

Gallipolis led 11-8, 28-16 and 44-26 at the quartermarks.

Coach Tom Hopkins cleared his bench in the final period as the seventh graders went on to post their third straight triumph and improve their record to 3-2.

In the nightcap, Coach Jim Niday's eighth graders downed the West Virginians 39-34 to post their first win in five starts.

Gallipolis led 12-6, 23-18 and 31-21 at the quartermarks before Niday cleared his bench in the final period.

Both teams will be idle until Jan. 2 when they travel to Meigs for a twinbill.

The two Gallipolis teams have a home makeup date with Meigs. That game has not yet been rescheduled.

The makeup could be Jan 30th. The GA girls travel to Meigs for their makeup game then.

Goodluck to the boys! The 7th grade girls are 3-3
