Flood Watch

Post by mvlnewlex »

Major flooding is likely across a large portion of Southern Ohio.

Most of the area is under a Flood Watch.

Based on new information im looking at. Lawrence, Gallia and Meigs should be added to the Flood Watch.

A stationary front has stalled out over the Ohio Valley as several waves of low pressure are expected to develop and move along the front. Expect between a half inch to an inch of rain today. The heaviest rain moves in tonight and continues into Wednesday. Rainfall rates of a half inch to an inch an hour are possible at times.

Total rainfall amounts by Wednesday evening will range from 3 to 6 inches along and north of a line from Chillicothe to Athens. 2 to 4 inches in the south.

The ground is so saturated that 1 to 2 inches of rain in less than 12 hours is enough to cause flooding at any given location.

Based on what I am looking at, many area roads may be under water by tomorrow morning.
