I remember Carl's...don't think I was ever in there. You were taking about Firestone's was that when it was at the location where the drive thur bank is across from The Stage coach inn. After they moved Western Auto moved in.

Wasn't there a Firestone store that sold tires and stuff across the street from the old halls printing place? I remember a Western Auto down close to the old Elberfeld's building. Then years later I think Sharff's occupied that. Sold Women's clothing.

I think there was a Liquor store at one time west from Risch's drug store a few doors down on the alley. I think the liquor store was there through my childhood days. Also I think that area use to be a Greyhound bus pick-up and drop off area too.

Don't know if the old Sears store has been mentioned on the corner of Spring and Second.

Gomf's green house that was there by the 93 overpass. Sold plants and flowers etc. Me and BW use to go in there and play around as kids Bolt. Ole Gomf would have us help him sometimes. Buy us pop and candy bars and stuff for helping him.

What was the Sinsel's place down by the Theater on Main? Was thinking that was a Western Auto. I used to go in there and look at models and rockets.That Greyhound place was at the book store next to Utopia when I left for the Army.My Aunt worked at the Sears on Spring St, for many years,got my first wagon and bicycle there for my birthdays.

Ole MJ worked there for years too Bolt. Worked in the appliance section. She hated to see it go. She probably knew your Aunt.

Greyhound pick up & drop off when I was in 6th grade going to Washington DC on a School trip was down there close to the fire department. Man was I glad to get back from that trip. What a rowdy bunch we had in 6th grade. You probably know who all I'm referring too.

Not sure Noreply, but they sure made some money off of me when they was on Main St. I had 3 different car loans through them through the years. Got the last one paid off and they closed the one on Main shortly after that. The credit union moved up in that area not to long ago. They was on Spring St, then moved to Second St, now they are up by Walmart.

I was thinking they moved up there right after the whole Walmart opened. Didn't one of the pepper girls work there. Seemed like after they close up there the Dollar Tree was made bigger from that section.

Not sure when they moved up there. I was done dealing with them by then. Yep, now that I think about it, one of the Peppers girls did work there at onetime when it was on Main St. I think she was one of the loan officers in there. Never seen her in there I can remember in the 80's early 90's though, when I would go in and make car payments.

I had my first bank account with them on Main St. in the 80's ,don't remember seeing the Peppers woman in there,the woman in there was Valery Junge.She was a very friendly woman who made me feel comfortable every time I went in.I don't think she stayed there long.I pulled my account out after that.

I do ...me and my buddies use to hang there everyday after school. Howard was a great guy. He would hire school kids to work for him. Right off and can remember a few he hired. Goss, Smith, Tucker and Helber.

I spent alot of time at Howards as I was an End end guy until 7th grade when we moved to North Walnut, just 2 blocks from the H.S. That and the Fairgrounds ( and fishing Old Town) were the hangouts in early youth.

use to be a lot of swimming right behind the fairgrounds. When I was a lot older it was hard to believe people swam there. Just like at the fall in Scotts Creek. Scary area.
