The differences in gas prices are crazy. I wander if some local governments can tax gas? If so then that would explain the 10 to 20 cent differences in prices at stations just a few miles apart.

Here in Logan we have two Speedways about 10 blocks from each other and they will,at times, have different prices

I think what he is complaining about is this: In Scioto County for about a week now you have the majority of gas stations at $2.75 and then you have a few (I know of one in Clarktown on rt. 139) at $2.58. Then you go to Pike County where their prices have been in the $2.40's for over a week.

I did hear a story where a station owner near Muletown called another owner near Clarktown and tried to get him in trouble with his fuel wholesaler about his low prices.

Gas stations can put their prices to where they, the station, will not make a cent.

I know that if I'm going to be going to Pike County within the week I only buy $10 of gas or so locally so that I can fill up there for usually 20 cents cheaper.

Gas prices are not the only thing up.
My dog was telling me this morning that Alpo is up to 99 cents a can.
That's almost 7.00 in dog money

Wholesale price dropped to 1.615 and oil dropped below 60 dollars yesterday 59.95 a barrel. Saw one station in Portsmouth yesterday at 2.89....With Piketon in the 2.40s and Wheelersburg in the 2.50s, I wouldn't buy anything from that station.

Yes I know the GOV can tax gas. I was talking about LOCAL government not STATE. Can counties, cities, townships, etc. tax gas.

Gas is $2.45 at the BP in Latham. 5 miles down the road it's $2.62. Guess where I'm filling my tank up this afternoon.

I have some 411 about diesel. I was told that the price of diesel is still HIGH because diesel is actually the fuel that is converted into and the production is cutback to produce home heating fuel. So this gives us an early look at the cost of home heating this winter. Everyone better do as I am going to do and get a heat pump put in. My brother-in-law put one in and he went from filling up 4 times during the winter to 1 and his electric bill only went up $40 per month and the fuel savings more than paid for the electric bill.

Wheelersburg had 2.69 and on Dogwood Ridge it was 2.58. Ironton also has 2.69 and Ashland Ky has 2.74 at Marathon less the 6 cents off for showing a Kroger card.

Actually diesal is the scum from making reg gas, but the price is tied to what they charge for heating oil. To me its like charging more for Pabst than say MGD, since Pabst comes from the first skim of the MGD. It just doesn't make since.

Wholesale gas closed at 1.64 yesterday. Oil was back to a little over 60 dollars a barrel. I used to purchase regular gas and diesel for a company I worked for and the cost per gallon was exactly the same. We bought it from John Clark.
