I believe that Warren is going to be at the Buckeye's competition and we will also go to Athens' comp. earlier in the day.

Add Warren to Class A and I believe 13 is the limit. That is what it has been in the past. Looks like a great lineup.

Sorry I was wrong about that, there is room for 3 more bands. 16 is the limit.

I haven't seen the schedule yet but it goes from smallest to largest so class "c" will be first.

Unfortunately no. But I am gonna tell ya, I have never seen kids work so hard in my life. Sectionals almost every day. After school practice three times a week, contests every week. They are very young this yr. Losing all those seniors last yr was difficult but now the underclassmen have some experience under their belt and the Jr High kids have been working and helping the HS band, I expect to see some big things from The Pride of the Buckeyes in the next few yrs.

Mrs. Parris has them going in the right direction. If you look back to how they sounded at the Old Timers game and then listen to them now it's like night and day!! I am very proud of the hard work those young people have done this year. They are a great group of kids and Nelsonville-York should be proud that they represent the Buckeyes!!
I look forward to enjoying the Marching Buckeyes the next 2 friday nights and at least 1 more week after that!!!!

GO BUCKS GO!!!!!!!!!!

9:15 Nelsonville-York High School “Buckeye” Marching Band Class “C” Members: 46

The band numbers have started to go back up the last few years I have noticed. Back in the day, NY's band was HUGE. I remember seeing the '81 State Championship Football game on TV and watching NY's band play at halftime and it's like a small army! The numbers really died down in the 90's. I'm thinking the band only had like 30-35 members back when I was in high school, and I graduated in '96. And those numbers kept going down in the years after that, but they appear to be climbing once again. It would be nice to see NY's band as large as it once was back in the 70s and 80s.

The band was actually down to around 13 in this decade. They are staying between 40-50 members right now. The days of those large bands are over I am afraid. Most schools arounds here march junior high kids in order to have full instrumentation. Schools have placed a lot of importance on academics, which they should, and the arts programs are suffering for it as you can get more credit for certain classes than others. I would guess that NY may be doing the same thing regarding marching some junior high kids once the campus is combined.

Yeah, I wasnt too sure about that category. That is the only caption that does not give a score on the recap sheet. Congrats on qualifying BTW. Good Luck at State.
