A McConnelsville woman died in a one-car crash early Sunday on Ohio Rt. 13 in the village of Trimble, according to a report filed by the Athens Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

The report said that Stephanie J. Gaddis, 33, died from injuries received in the crash. She was a passenger in a car driven by Jason W. Riley, 37 of Glouster, the report said.

Riley suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was transported by Med-Flight to the Ohio State University Medical Center, according to the report. A second passenger, Howard K. Holcomb, 38, of Glouster, also suffered serious injuries in the crash, and like Riley, was flown to the OSU Medical Center for treatment.

A source at OSU Medical Center reported early Sunday afternoon that Holcombe was in fair condition, and Riley was in serious condition.

The report said that Riley was driving a 2004 Chevrolet Cavalier south on Ohio Rt. 13 at 1:25 a.m. Sunday when he lost control of the vehicle, traveled off the left side of the road and struck a utility pole.

Speed and alcohol are believed to be factors in the crash, which remains under investigation, according to the Highway Patrol report.
