Any schools use high school kids to ref Jr. high BB games?

I've heard of some schools doing this in the past. I cringe at the thought. I know it has lead to some big problems.

I have never seen this. We only have OHSAA licensed officals call our games. I have seen hs kids ref Pee-Wee games, but never a JH game.

Piketon vs Northwest a couple of years ago. I'm not sure if it was a regular season game or a scrimmage. Things got pretty ugly from what I've been told...with fans getting involved. I guess some kids called the game and basically didn't call anything. The game got out of hand.

I've seen Upward games get out of hand. It's the refs job to keep the game under control. If that means calling a foul every time down the court so be it.

From my experience kids are reluctant to blow the whistle. And when they do they don't blow it with authority.

That was a scrimmage, never would high school players ref a real junior high game at nw. Probably never again a scrimmage either, but parents of that scrimmage didn't help matters.
