Haunted and Historic Guyandotte Tours

Post by TheresaHPIR »

Huntington Paranormal has expanded its tour business!

Guyandotte, the oldest section of Huntington, WV is teeming with history, folklore...and even a few ghosts! Join our experienced guides, complete in period attire, on a candlelight walk through the sleepy streets of downtown.

This tour isn't JUST for West Virginia history! Ohioans may be particularly interested in:

*The shots fired from across the river in Proctorville, signaling the beginning of Civil War hostilities in Guyandotte

*Rev. Fox, a wrecked steamer on the Ohio, and the role they both played, linking Ohio and Guyandotte to one of the major cholera epidemics of the 1800s

*An Ohio citizen responsible for bringing the Methodist Church to Guyandotte

Tours are FREE and open to the public. Please see our website for more information regarding dates and times! Different tours featuring different places are offered throughout the year, and private tours can be arranged to fit your interests.

Our next round of tours will be a haunted cemetery tour!

Haunted and Historic Guyandotte Walking Tours, a branch of Huntington Paranormal, will be hosting a ghost tour of the Guyandotte Methodist Church Cemetery in September! Knowledgeable guides will share the history of the small cemetery, an overview of burial customs and related miscellany, and of course, the ghostly legends attached to the cemetery and its many inhabitants!

Come see the oldest church burial ground in Cabell County and the tragic fates of those resting not-so-in peace within the wrought iron walls.

When:
Friday, September 10th and Saturday, September 11th

Time: Tours begin at 8pm and leave every 15 minutes until 10pm

Where: Tours leave from the Guyandotte Methodist Church Cemetery, located on 5th Street in Guyandotte, between Guyan and Main Streets.

Cost: FREE!

Additional Info: This tour last approximately 30 minutes and is not recommended for those under the age of 5. Unfortunately, unlike our other tours, this tour is not wheelchair accessible.

Please see our website for more details, and info on additional upcoming haunted and haunted history tours!
