.243 would probably be the best round. I am still waiting to shoot my first one with my .300 win mag :)

Knife, I like to get closer

I have used .22, .17hmr, 12 guage, and 22-250

I would say my favorite would be the 22-250 because it lets me reach out there and touch them ones that hang up on you at the edge of the woods 300 yards away. The most fun hunts would have to be with the shotgun since it means that you get some up close action.

I like the .243 because it has a flat trjectory but still has knockdown power and can go through some brush

I have never found any brush out in wide open harvested corn & soy bean fields at where I hunt yet. My friend that hunted with me used a .243 and them guns are extremely loud. I shot one coyote at 525 yards on the run, I don't think the .243 is that flat shooting to hit out that far.

I do too but that doesn't happen very often around my parts. I have only had one get to with in 5 feet of me when I was calling in 10 years of coyote hunting. Maybe that is just because I have a happy trigger finger and bust them when ever they stop the first time after they are in my view

My longest shot followed me killing its friend right beside him at 150 yards, the 2nd one ran then my friend missed him at 200 yards on the run and I finally bagged him when he got way out there running straight away from me at 525 yards

I would like to carry a shotgun and rifle with me but that would get kind of heavy packing through the woods every time I choose to go

It looks like you all down there starve your coyotes to death, are you sure you shot it or did it just drop over dead with hunger

What ammo do you shoot in your Winchester? I have both a Marlin and Winchester .30-30, just about every .30-30 bullets shoots good in my Marlin, but i havent found any for my Winchester.

You guys should try a heavy barrelled gun chambered in .204 Ruger. Awesome varmit round and just plain fun to shoot. And for all the 525 yard shots at a coyote on the move, I say is it possible? Yes, but you need to film that next time cause you will be famous.

I doubt I will ever get to take a shot at a coyote running straight away from me that far away again on flat ground. I believe that was a one time thing in life but I had a witness that can vouch for me that I did do it. I was just lucky that he was running straight away from me to make that shot a lot easier to succeed with.
