Fishing In A Thunderstorm

Post by kantuckyII »

I was always taught to get the heck off the water when it storms and there is lighting coming down. Rain and snow? I'm just ok with it but lighting? not me. I have noticed a lot of guys just stay out there now during a lighting storm. I'm pretty sure that it got started during tournament fishing. Anyway, I was on a lake last night and a storm rolled up. I managed to get back to the dock and tie up and then had to sit in my truck while it come pounding down before I could load back up. I was amazed though how many just stayed right out on the lake during the storm.

How about you? do you fish in your bassboat in a lighting storm?

I prefer to stay and fish, but my partner gets mad about it.

I dont think the fish mind the rain, they are already wet ;-)

I do however think that loud lightning will shut fish off, especially large and smallmouth

I do have a couple, I'm just glad that they don't fish for the most part. Happiness to me is to turn around and look at my outboard and not have anyone blocking my view. It's a sheer joy to fish alone
