In everyone's opinion, who's going to have the best colorguard, drumline, and band of next season? And who was the worst of the 2010 season?? ;-)

Watch out for Portsmouth West. They're gonna be pushing 90 members and could easily be one of the best bands in southern Ohio.

So the band is going to get bigger after not having qualified for states in 2010 AND they're going to be one of the best? I'm going to have to disagree with that.

for drumline, definitely Rock Hill...they swept a lot of competitions last year and the year before...they have a top notch percussion instructor:)

They missed state because of a judge that was basically out to get them. Hard to believe someone who's supposed to be a professional would do that, but he admitted to it. If not for him, they would have easily qualified at Green and Ironton and would not have been DQ'd at Bloom-Carroll.

Okay, I was at Bloom-Carroll and I missed this, why were they DQ'd.

They had an "underage performer"..all she did was bring a flower out to the field. Although she performed at every competition, nothing was said about it until the very last one they played at.

Okay, they performed after us at Bloom-Carroll and I didn't see them perform.

If a group violates an OMEA rule, then the fault does not lie with a judge, but rather the director of that group. In a situation, such as the one with Portsmouth West, maybe the judge you are referring to wasn't aware of the underage performer until the Bloom Carroll show. I can tell you that the director was certainly aware of the fact the performer was underage from the onset of the season. After all, he was the one who was chose to use that performer in the show.

The point isn't that he pointed out the underage performer, its the fact that he did his best to keep them from going to state. He's lost his job since then, so that isn't gonna be a problem anymore.

No judge from Bloom Carroll has lost their job, that I'm aware of.

Well, in any case, I was told he is no longer listed as a judge on Omea's website.

Color guard - South Point
Drumline - Rock Hill
Band - Green

South Point's color guard is consistently good, and I think they stay on top of the area. There isn't much competition to challenge them IMO. Rock Hill's drumline is getting bigger/better every year. I see them doing some ambitious things. I've heard SP is going through some changes, so it will be interesting to see what they come out with. Green's band did very well last year, seems like their director has a good program set up (they just need a solid drumline instructor). If they can get more kids in the group, I think they'll do very well.

Look for Eastern Beaver to have a good marching band next year. They will be pushing around 70 kids marching, which is remarkable for a school of their size. Now the school needs to hire an assistant or two to help out the band director. One adult can't possibly control all those kids at a parade.

Portsmouth West numbers I don't think will be in the 90 range this year. Only 50 some performed at the Scioto County Fair with adding about 8 flag corp, however did sound strong with their music this season.

I think they have 75+ at full strength. 3 weeks of band camp and they have almost their entire show on the field.
