Curiosity...What gets a T?

Post by FortheWin »

Is it up to interpretation?
Does it depend on the ref?
What are the guidelines?

Going to far based on the ref assigning the T

Coach usually knows he’s getting one seconds before it’s given.

How about "Let them play"? After receiving the 7th team foul in the 1st qtr, with about 2 minutes left in the qtr. Fortunately when the official was asked, "Really, are you serious"? He was poised to pop another one!!

Running onto the floor and ripping your shirt off will also get you a T. Also, If you are a fan and do this you will be escorted out by police. That’s just what I heard

Punting a ball in the stands. Throwing up the double bird at a ref would probably do it. Just to name a couple..

I agree with Jackie Moon, A nice "let them play" is a great one

Great examples guys. I think most are obvious but...sometimes "?".
Last night in a 8th grade game a T was called when a boy set the ball on the floor, rather than throwing it to the ref. It just seemed an unnecessary call to me, but I may have missed something.
Just wondering about the rules, and how much is just....you looked at me funny.

Just think of officials as your wife, never wrong, never admit theyre wrong, never change their minds! Live by that, and you will be ok!

I am really amazed at the number of athletes I have seen this year talking to or giving looks to the officials.

I blame this on every college or pro game where the players complain about every call.

It is hard to watch sometimes

back in the day if you did not hand the ball to the ref or put your hand up when a call is foul you, it was an automatic technical. Setting the ball down is disrespect to the game and the ref will call it unsportsmanlike. High school players are emulating NBA players and overreact to calls. IMO

When you start counting for them (1 Mississippi, 2 Mississippi, 3 Mississippi, 4 ....) when they are not paying attention to the paint.

I agree that players get away with things that would've got you T'd up in the past. Like slamming the floor with your hands on the floor after commiting a foul. Slamming the walls on the ends after a foul or missed shots. Slamming the ball on the floor and catching it. But a lot of it is on the coaches for allowing this behavior. Any kind of complaining after getting a foul was an automatic T. Any kind of outburst was a T plus your butt was on the bench by your coach.

Chasing the refs off the court and to the locker room all the while screaming about how they "cheated these kids you F#$%@#G PIECE OF SH$T"! will certainly get you one, wait, no it didn't a few years ago at A#%^#s so maybe it won't.

Wasn't something about "Glouster refs" mentioned in that rant?
