Burg 15
Clay 12
After 1 quarter. Burg was up 9-0 with the starters and then the subs came in.

Wheelersburg 33
Clay 26
Clay stayed right with the Pirates and actually had a lead with just a few minutes left. I think they said Andy Stegman had 17 points. Great job by the Panthers of getting back into this game after starting out down 9-0.

Re: Southern Ohio Conference Preview
did SW sub freely ? get out to any bid lead ? or just totally sandbag ? Portsmouth would beat SV by 30-40. at least. MD
Re: Southern Ohio Conference Preview
SW played all 11 or 12 players they had the same amount of minutes...they just went out there and had fun. Nothing competitive. Didn't see much of an effort here, which is nothing to complain about.ManitouDan wrote:did SW sub freely ? get out to any bid lead ? or just totally sandbag ? dimedrop4 , is right, S W , had all the starters on tye bench the biggest part of the second qtr, they came back in with a couple minutes left.
to me, the best team tonight out of all,was either Oak Hil, or Waverly..of course like said above, none of the coaches showed a lot.

Re: Southern Ohio Conference Preview
Oak Hill looked good because Western will be really bad this season. I think most of the SOCII teams could have dropped 50+ on them tonight. I'm not saying Oak Hill won't be good this season because I'm sure they will, just that Western wasn't much competition for them.
Re: Southern Ohio Conference Preview
yeah western is down and I already told the guys I was with at the game, they would be lucky to win 3 or 4 games, and it was a big part of why Oak Hill looked good, but still they Impressed me, and they was without the Hale kid.
Im thinking Waverly may have had a starter on the bench also, but was stilled surprised that green hung with them like they did,,Waverly did sub a lot though.
Wheelersburg and Clay was a good 2 qtrs, Barrick subbed a lot,and I think Clays coach went all in the entire 2 qtrs

Eastern/Clay looked good in the SOCI. Oak Hill/Waverly should fight it out again for SOCII. Hard to tell when teams sub freely.

Re: Southern Ohio Conference Preview
Not sure what you mean by Clay's coach going "all in". They ony had the starting 5 on the floor together for 1 minute near the end. The played in groups of 5 with 2 starters, three subs, then 3 starters and 2 subs. I thought they played really well, and from what I saw from the other SOC I teams, I think they have a legitimate shot at winning that conference. On the SOC II side, I think Waverly will be the team to beat. Burg only dressed 8 players tonight, Is that all they are playing?biggdowgg wrote:yeah western is down and I already told the guys I was with at the game, they would be lucky to win 3 or 4 games, and it was a big part of why Oak Hill looked good, but still they Impressed me, and they was without the Hale kid.

Just thankful no injuries occurred for anyone. Previews are just what they are called and a good time to get the local teams together.
Re: Southern Ohio Conference Preview
Clay played great, and even when he subbed they , still looked pretty good......"clays coach" is ALWAYS fun to watch, he is so animated......thats all...rockyraccoon wrote:Not sure what you mean by Clay's coach going "all in". all that is missing is a white lab jacket for him to 100% look the part of a insane lab instructor. right now he only looks 90% mad scientist. need to add the lab jacket for full effect. Always worth the price of admission.
One of my own philosophical statements I swear by is " A team is always a reflection of the head coach" and in Clay's case I've observed that to be true ----100 MPH and going no where. MD

Clay seems to have a thing for animated coaches. We went from Darby O'Gill to The Mad Professor. Hopefully this year Clay's talent may have caught up with his 100 mph persona.

At the meet the team last week, there were 10 varsity players. The other 2 spots will probably be JV players dressing some varsity games.rockyraccoon wrote:Burg only dressed 8 players tonight, Is that all they are playing?

Re: Southern Ohio Conference Preview
after watching previews i feel its a three team race oak hill, burg, waverly and a two team race between clay, eastern should be a good conference all around
Re: Southern Ohio Conference Preview
I think the SOC I is wide open outside of Western. Also, the SOC II is gonna be wide open from top to bottom, imo.
