That was the worst shooting night of the year for the Trojans and to still have 4 players in double figures and hold an improved Jackson to 44 points after they came out making almost everything in the first half. Colt Chapman can definitely play and I thought #2 who is a senior, McNelly, also can play as he hit a few deep threes. Jackson will return 6 of their 9 listed varsity players as they lose 3 seniors. Good luck Jackson the rest of the year and keep playing hard.
For the Trojans another pretty solid night defensively especially in the second half. It was good to see them come out in the second half and play much improved as it builds towards Tuesday's showdown. I'm just happy we got a W even though I think the team may have been overlooking the Ironmen with #2 Cavaliers right around the corner. Should be a HECK of a game and hopefully the Trojans can come out victorious in round 2. Go Trojans!
Fri Jan 28 Jackson vs Portsmouth

Re: Fri Jan 28 Jackson vs Portsmouth
Jackson certainly has improved since the first game vs. the Trojans, won by PHS 63-34. Credit to Coach McKinniss and his staff.
What affected Portsmouth's shooting was Jackson's zone defense, which pretty much took away the inside game and forced the Trojans to score from the perimeter.......PHS didn't shoot well, but unlike in years past the DEFENSE kept up the intensity throughout the game and it resulted in the Ironmen only scoring 44 points.
Coach Collins and his staff have these kids taking pride on the stop end of the court.......PHS has now given up an average of just under 48 PPG.......and the kids now know that you come from behind with defense, you build leads with defense, and you finish off an opponent with defense.
PHS will have some more games where they don't shoot well.........could be in the tournament.........but in the end the defense we are playing will give us a good chance to win no matter who the opponent is.
